Clear amber color, decent off-white head. Aroma has odd dry yeast feeling, not much else going on. Light-bodied. Watery. Sharp dry flavor. Dry finish too. Pale malts, some earthy hops, quite easy.
Certainly one of the oddest rates i have had. On handpull at Whittlebury Hotel in Northamptonshire. Dark brown colour lasting cream head. Dry malt malty aroma. This carries on into the mouth with a load of toast coming in at the end. A reasonably tasty malty best bitter. Apart from the sparkler pretty good. Certainly soft with touch of earthy hop. hughie (3996) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 19, 2010
Cask, gravity, at Luton BF ’10. Dark amber with a small white head. Sweet, rather subdued malt aroma. Slightly harsh malty taste. Mid bitter finish. To be fair, this was a bit lively and needed another day or two.

Cask handpull, The Malt Shovel, Northampton. Pale ruby with a slim beige slick. Watery Morello and damp wood aroma. Marzipan straight off the bat, cherrystone..uh, not much else happening really. Blackberry dabs and damp biscuit. Soporific after the Great Oakley stuff. imdownthepub (14555) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 9, 2009
Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Fest ’09. Chestnut with white head. Unusual, old style bitter, lots of roasty malts giving it almost a strong mild character, chocolate and coffee hints are present, then a dry leafy hop note. Pretty reasonable. maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - APR 13, 2009
UPDATED: JUL 4, 2010 Cask conditioned handpump George, Tiffield A dark amber coloured beer with an off white head. The aroma is fairly hoppy with some chocolate and oranges. The taste is similar with the choc really noticeable now. An interesting melange of flavours in a decent beer. Score 3.4KingsHead (32) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAR 13, 2009
