Tap @ In de Wildeman. Dark black color, short dark brown head. Aroma of some coffee and licorice, quite weak though, some candy sugar, dark fruit. Very clean and very bitter taste, not expected because hops are not abundant in aroma. Very malty, coffee. Clean bitter palate.

A forced drink at 1:15 on a monday because the beer broke open on me when moving beers. Opaque black with tan head. Aroma is doughy, alc, smoked dark malts, and some dark choclate. Flavor is dark fruits, black licorice, choclate, alc, smoke, and little bitterness. Med thin body with no carb to speak of but that could be due to the whole dropping process. Overall I pretty nice but will have to rerate at a later date.

Massive creamy head recedes around the edges leaving the centre of the foam looking like a poached egg floating within. The flavour is predominantly dry and bitter with some coffee notes coming through. The texture is rich and oily giving a great mouthfeel.

33cl bottle; Nose of chocolate with a molasses note; opaque black with a medium glass-lacing tan head; flavor of a mixture of chocolate, molasses, and some coffee; finish being a very faint hop bitterness. Body is medium; good but not great. A little too molassesy for my taste.

On October 2, 2010 - BB 08.04.2011.
Pours thick and viscous, black non-see through, medium sized brown head. Sweet, lactic, alcohol, raisin, smooth, chocolate scent, also some salt. Grainy, metallic, chocolate taste, some coffee and loads of roasted malt. Taste starts off almost mild, but change to an evident grainy and roasted malt aftertaste. Strange mix of smooth and fizzy mouthfeel. Medium, a bit dry and harsh, bitterness.

poured thick and heavy with pillowed bubbles covering the surface of the tan head. milk chocolate aroma. starch is listed as an ingredient. what does that mean? full, rich flavor begins with the sweet roasted malt and fades as the bitterness gains attention. smooth and creamy throughout.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an absolute black with a brownish head and an aroma of roasted malt and citrus. Taste is mostly roated malts, with some chocolate some undefined sweetness. Long bitter finish, pretty good!

11.2oz bottle from 2000, purchased at the Wine Market, D.C. A big thick pour, with just a trace of carbonation still around. Heavy peat and roast malt aroma, like this ones been sitting in old wood for centuries. Nice big chocolate malts give it some life, with a slightly smoky background. A good one.

Pours a dark brown with a small tan head, nice lacing. Aroma of smoke, chocolate, and nuts. Flavor seems a little dull.
