Nikolai beer’s high original gravity makes it extremely full-bodied. Besides satisfying the most acute thirst for beer, it also goes well with meals. Note: marketed nowadays as "Panimomestarin Nikolai Vaalea Lager". ABV 4.5%->4.7%

Lots of carbonation, fluffy head above pale liquid. Almost tasteless. Some roses in the finish. I find it weird to invoke the name of a Russian emperor for this crap!

[email protected] Petersburg, Russia. Golden beer with a light head. The aroma is mildly dry and the flavour is quite a mildly malty and dry effort. Overall a standard lager that is malty, dry and gasy.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2007 Good, balanced malt and hop taste. Not too bitter but very full and tasty. A bit darker in colour than a basic pale lager. Excellent mouth feel.

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2006 55 cl can via oh6gdx (thanks!). Pours a clear golden copper with a large white head, Not much aroma, perhaps a little maltiness and some pears. Flavor is subtle, with a little caramel maltiness, some lager yeast, some mild grassy hops, and even a little bit of pear and apricot. Smooth finish. Medium body and not watery like many of this style are. Good mouthfeel. Medium carbonation. Very refreshing. One of the better Pale Lagers. Perfect for the style and better than any American pale lager i have had.

Tranquillity (2508) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 22, 2006
It smells of yeast, not much foam. A bit of grass, very bitter and dirty taste. Not much aftertaste. Better than many others in the same category, Finnish lagers.

joheriks (8) - FINLAND - AUG 22, 2006 does not count
I think the beer has a bit deeper and more intensively malty and somewhat fruity taste than commonly found in Finish lagers. A tad better than Sinebrychoff’s flagship beer (red KOFF), but nothing to write home about.

Dorqui (2261) - Brescia, ITALY - JAN 24, 2006
UPDATED: SEP 16, 2007 Canned 0,50L. Fading and light head. Yellow much pale color, nearly deprives of fizz. Watery and gaunt aroma, light alcohol and malty rumors. Simple and insufficient taste; little racy and little bitter. Unbalanced notes of waters cereals and dampen straw. Short and unpleasant end.

(Bottle 33 cl) Fully golden with a small, creamy head. Aroma of...nothing! Slightly sweet malt and almost no bitterness. 270705

Dixen (1465) - Flagstaff, Arizona, USA - JUL 29, 2005
Almost no aroma at all, light malt. Light golden body, small white head. Light hoppy flavor. Boring.

joergen (29219) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUL 29, 2005
Bottled. Yellow coloured with a white head. Aroma of malts, but not much aroma at all. Flavour of malts and corn.
