COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
GOLD MEDAL WINNER 2017 WORLD BEER AWARDS - Sint-Gummarus of Lier (born in Emblem, died ca. 714) was a Knight at the Court of Pippin of Herstal and according to the legend also the founder of the city of Lier.
He is the patron of all those who live with a fracture.
One of the miracles assigned to him is that he restored a broken tree with his belt. So not only bone fractures, but also marriage breaks, since he had a bad marriage with an evil wife himself. Gummarus builds a chapel in Lier, where today is still a church. Apart from the story of the tree that started to grow back, he let a source spring from out of the ground by using his staff on the ground. The unique source would be perfect for healings of all kind of fractures. Every year on October 11th, pilgrims visit the Sint-Gummarus Church in the city of Lier to ask and pray for the health of bad fractures and also for his help to be preserved of fractures. About Gummarus, we know nothing with certainty but what we do know is that Sint-Gummarus has inspired us to brew a delicious Triple and Double in his honour! Sint-Gummarus Dubbel is the younger brother of the Sint-Gummarus Tripel. This high fermented beer, with refermentation on the bottle, gives a nice spicy smell and aftertaste. A pure maltbeer with a pleasant alcohol percentage of 7,1% alc. vol. The bitterness with light notes of dark fruit into the beer is the ultimate extra in this amazing dubbel beer. 2nd fermentation in the bottle, not in kegs!

Bottle, [email protected], Grobbendonk. Pours deep chestnut brown with a medium, frothy white head. Aroma has sweet malts, caramel, some wet dog, red apple, mild esters. Medium carbonation, fine dry and fairly creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has toasted caramel malts, a touch of licorice, quite hoppy and bitter with a slight chalky note.

Butelka 0,33l wypite w domu, nabyte w Leclerc.

330ml bottle from Chez Marie, Ieper. Pours hazy dark brown, good off-white head. Aroma brings bubblegum, dark malts, caramel. Taste is perhaps initially quite harsh, metallic, with a caramel sweetness and soft dark malts with a bright bitter finish. Not the best dubbel ever made.

Clear, brown, nice steady head. Aroma: sweet malty, carmel, raisins, some cherries and dark chocolate notes, also some iron. Heavy to medium sweetness, medium to light body, medium to high bitterness. Aroma was nice, but flavour is empty. Some hay, bread and terrible, quite high herbal bitterness.
