Bottle. BBE Jan 2016; Drank Dec 2015 - Opaque Black in colour. Large brown foamy head. Very Malty; roasty malts, dark chocolate, coffee, brown sugar, liquorice, vanilla notes. Fruity; dark fruits, raisins. Spicy; peppery notes. Viscous. Rich and Smooth. Warming alcohol. Sweet roast chocolate malty throughout. Liquorice becomes increasingly noticeable in the dryish bitter finish. The sugar and liquorice are interesting additions. Terrific tasty original Impy Stout! (2016-01-03)

Beautiful chocolate and lovely sweetness is what this beer is about. the hints of bitterness. At first I was worried the liquorice would be a bit to much to handle, but it absolutely was not, just a hint of it was in the background. Certainly a Complex beer

Bottle from Pigs Ear Beer Festival, 2015. Jet black pour with a tan head. Keeps it’s head well. Aromas of cinnamon, dark chocolate, coffee roast, licorice toffee, vanilla and cocoa. Big boozy flavours of licorice, bags of dark roast coffee, dark chocolate and roasted sweet spice. Lengthy dryness on the gullet. Full bodied brew, huge alcohol warmth. Long, sweet coffee infused finish. Excellent.

Appearance is opaque jet black, with a large foamy brown head which slowly diminishes. Aroma- chocolate, fudge, leather, vanilla, molasses, toffee, espresso, roast malt. Bitter hops are also detectable. Taste- chocolate and toffee, chocolate biscuit, fudge cake, roasty coffee, brown sugary sweetness, vanilla, coconut, rich fruitcake. Full and thick mouthfeel, like a boozy milkshake. Excellent.
