2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours black with nice small mocha head. Burning pipe tobacco, charcoal, maybe a little skunk and some faint citrus offer an aroma that is original if not appealing. Body is fairly thin in first instance, it gathers some steam but is ultimately disappointing. Flavours are muddled and oppressed by a really repugnant growing roasted-malt (primarily coffee) bitterness which carries to the finish. Yuk, this really isn’t for me.

Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is sulfur, dark malts, burnt coffee, caramel, cardboard, old toilet, hops, hay. Taste is dry roasted grassy, espresso, leafs, grass, burnt caramel, ashtray, hops, paper, pine needles, burnt grain. Longlasting bitterness, very dry burnt mouthfeel. Meh!
Cask Half Pint at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell, London in March 2014 - Pitch Black in colour. Slight head. Very hoppy; piney resinous hops. Fruity; grapefruit citrus. Malty; roasty/burnt wheaty malts, hints of chocolate and caramel. Good hop/fruit/malt balance. Bitter hoppy fruity and roast malty throughout. I am not a big fan of Black IPAs but I did enjoy this. Nice Black IPA! (2014-03-14) alvaro78 (637) - Sevilla, SPAIN - SEP 2, 2016

Aroma of an blond IPA, fruity, soap, later roasted coffee.
Poured black, large head.
Tasted had fruits, chocolat, coffee, a bit spices.
Finish is mild coffee.
Pours black with a tan head. The aroma is excellent with roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. The flavor has a nice bitterness to it balancing nicely. It's very smooth and quite refreshing.

Bottle from the Mill, Cambridge. Very dark brown, threatens to be black but never quite makes it. Slightly sour smell with blackberry, vanilla, quinoa, lemon curd all vying for attention. Balanced bittersweet and slightly sour taste, with hints of salt liquorice, black pepper and soy sauce in the finish. On another night I may rate this lower, as the complexity seems to muddle the overall impression. But tonight it seems right to have a beer that makes me think. fombe89 (4092) - Asturias, SPAIN - SEP 7, 2015

Color negro, espuma beige, aroma herval, sabor maltoso, final seco.
Bottle. Nice pine aroma, bit of cream too. Light roastiness too. Taste is great. Quite subtle. Chocolate, light coffee, then citrus fruitiness. Bit funky maybe. Creamy, very nice. Subdued in its deliciousness. Further down hop hit has gone, just lovely maltiness. melush (4779) - SPAIN - AUG 23, 2015
