A brown beer with an orangey head. The aroma has notes of brettanomyces, citrus fruits, alcohol, and over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, chocolate, wood, and alcohol, leading to a dry roasted finish. Leighton (21231) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 15, 2015
Draft at Craft Beer Co. Covent Garden - London. Pours rich brown with a frothy beige head. Very tasty stuff, with lots of toasty toffee, dark sugars, well ripened dark fruits. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish with more ripe fruits, toffee, bread and cake. Good stuff. On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014. A really deep and dark brown one, or is it actually black grey? Anyhow, it has a small but lasting beige head on the top. Nice nose. I get Bourbon and wood. Sweet sticky caramel with hints of spices. Really nice nose. Loaded with the good kind of Bourbon. Lots of sweet burned sugar. I’d say it’s oily in the mouth and just above average on the bubbles. Lots of flavor. Fruity red berries and wood? Ends quite mouthdrying. I liked this. 03.05.2014 teorn88 (7682) - Rimini, ITALY - NOV 6, 2014
Backlog rating. On tap at CBC Clapham, Craft 100. It pours a deep brown color with a small beige head. Aroma is sweet, boozy and roasty, with notes of cocoa powder, cedar wood, toffee and vanilla. Taste is quite intense on the sweet boozy notes of cognac, with also dark chocolate, roasted malts, wood and citrus. Quite full bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, tasy, a bit sweet

Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, wood - tobacco, barrel. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, tobacco - wood, dark malt, wood, barrel, dusty. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft.
Cask @ Craft Beer Company, Covent Garden. Very dark brown. Brown-black. Gentle raisiny cognac dominates the aroma. Also earth, espresso, slate, salt liquorice, woodsmoke. Sweet, malty and alcoholic taste. Alcohol slightly too predominant fir my liking. Silky full palette. Sweet aftertaste. The barrel aging adds an interesting character to the beer, but I prefer the purity of the original. Ferris (15236) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 10, 2014
Cask - Vinous barrel, raisin and toffee. Deep maroon and a rich beige head. Raisin, barrel notes and dark sugars.
