Passionfruit & Oak India Pale Ale
As part of our continued experimentation with wood and beer, Hillbilly Wine is a complex, full-flavoured IPA. In orderto complement the big, sweet and juicy base brew we’ve added passionfruit for a distinctive and slightly tart edge. We then used our custom Spinbot to circulate the beer on oak chips, bringing delicate, toasty notes of vanilla and light tobacco plus a unique mouthfeel.

Bottle. Hazy light amber with lots of yeast particles in the liquid. Small well-lacing off-white head. The aroma is tropical. Passion fruit present. Pretty notable honey malts. Medium body. Fruity medium sweet taste accompannied by mild and fine fruity bitterness. A tiny hint of oak. This beer does not shock by extreme numbers. it just convinces by good style and manners.

Crushable stuff. A bit interesting from oak, but otherwise as good a double IPA as you get without erasing your palate. Griffon Gastropub, Clarence.

Bottle 330ml @ home
Pours hazy deep golden/amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, alcohol, dried fruits, citrus and orange. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long warm, malty, citrus, woody and dried fruity finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat.

Present from mr_h. Orange brown, not much head. Passionfruit aroma. Wood and passionfruit flavour. Bitter aftertaste. Unusual and interesting but not really my thing.

Sample @ CBC Boston, 2016. Deep gold pour with a small head. Fruity nose – orange peel and some tropical fruit smoothie. Mango etc. Sort of chewy and sweet flavor. Fairly grainy, some caramel. More tropical fruit. A bit fat and clumsy. Full body, soft carb.

Drobniutka, jasna piana. Zapach słodkich tropikalnych owoców z lekkim miodem. Odrobinka kokosa i wanilii. Lekko kwiatowy. Smak delikatny, dużo słodkich owoców, liczi, marakuja, melon, dużo ananasa. Bardzo owocowy posmak przypominający sok. Goryczka raczej niska. Dość wyczuwalny alkohol, grzeje mocno w przełyk ale nie jest spirytusowy. Niskie wysycenie. Czuć też skórkę grepfruta. Świetne piwo, szkoda tylko tego trochę przeszkadzającego alkoholu.

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a murky medium amber with a thin white head and lots of sediment. The aroma is passionfruit, alcohol. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet with a rich, warm, woody passionfruit alcoholic bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Appearance- cloudy, light amber, hardly any head, just a few foamy white bubbles. Plenty of yeast comes out. Aroma- lots of juicy, tropical fruit, pineapple, grassy hops, mango, oranges, pithy grapefruit, freshly squeezed fruit juice, sweet malt. Taste- thick orange juice, pineapple, passionfruit, mango, sweet bready malt, juicy hops, more tart citrusy fruit. Thick and syrupy mouthfeel, sticky lengthy finish. Very good.
