22 ounce bottle purchased at BevMo in Natomas, CA. There is a ton of coffee in the nose of this beer. Very roasted and pleasant. Seems a little on the burnt side, though. Scantly transparent dark mahogany body with a nice, creamy light tan head that is strong. Starts a little sweet, before this becomes a little roasted in the middle with some buttery diacetyl flavors. Coffee flavors follow with a nice roastiness. A lingering dusty cardboard flavor is present late. This is strange, and seems a bit flawed.

2 for 2 with beers from Six Rivers. This beer has a HUGE aroma of coffee and chocolate, like a decadent dessert of some kind. The roastyness of the aroma borders on being ashy, but not quite there. Any more so, and the score would go from a 9 down to about 3 or 4. Flavor is more coffee and a powdery chocolate bitterness that reminds me of Hershey’s baking powder. The residual sweetness is kept on the low-medium side, so the bitterness of the malts really shows. Really nice. beertholomeus (1814) - California, USA - OCT 25, 2014
Pours a very dork brown, almost black with a khaki head. Coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and caramel aroma. Coffee, toffee, caramel, toast, chocolate and roasted malt flavors. Medium full body and moderate carbonation. Coffee and toffee finish. slowrunner77 (13231) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 30, 2014
"never had Moonstone, the base beer, but i LOVE me some Kona Coffee and like Pipeline from Kona, this beer puts the coffee to good use. nice balance in the flavor and aroma between roasted malt, bitterness, and a touch of sweet and spicy from the coffee. served at 50 degrees, especially enjoyable closer to 60. At $4 less than the Ras Lambic, it’s a better beer." Travlr (26437) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - AUG 21, 2014
Bottle courtesy of BeerandBlues2, thank you sir! Deep maroon color, small tan head. Aroma of coffee grounds and cocoa powder. Taste is similar. Plain chinchill (5397) - South Carolina, USA - JUL 8, 2014
On tap at the brewpub.
A: a very durable creamy tan head leaves some sticky lacing. Clear but nearly opaque dark brown.
Aroma: mix of medium- and dark-malts with light-roasted coffee.
Flavor: Mix of medium- and dark-malts with light-roasted coffee. Excellent balance between the coffee an the malts. Faint hop presence.
Feel: near medium body with medium soft carbonation.
O: well-crafted coffee porter.

Not one for coffee beers, but appreciate the category. Deep mahogany in color with intense coffee and chocolate malt notes. Body a bit watery, but great coffee finish and aromas. chickbeer44 (8) - - MAY 18, 2014 does not count
Great coffee aroma and flavor. Thin mouth feel but delicious all the same. Head retention was okay. Rep at Wholefoods gave great information and I even bought two bottles to share. They were well received by some out of town guests who returned to Wholefoods to get a couple bottle for themselves. Nico_Bruesome (7) - California, USA - MAY 11, 2014 does not count
Definitely got the smell of coffee and chocolate right off the bat. It poured a thick head which dissipated quickly. The body was light and water, for a coffee beer I expected a thicker body
with more taste. Decent but I wouldn’t try it again. patrick767 (4474) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - MAR 2, 2014
tap at the brewpub, fall 2013 - Pours dark brown with a small, lingering, light tan head. It smells of roast coffee and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with more chocolate and coffee and a medium to full body. Quite good. yackery (168) - California, USA - FEB 13, 2014
Appearance is small, dissolving, brown sandy head with fast brown lacing over a mahogany barely translucent body. Aroma is coffee and chocolate coca cola. Taste is mildly sweet. Palate is soft with some cream. Finish is coffee/dark chocolate bitter. Classy.
