Espresso and cocoa nose with mild peppery spice. Herbal and coffe palate with mild acidity. Somewhat astringent finish. DYCSoccer17 (3698) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 20, 2011
22 ounce bottle purchased at BevMo in Natomas, CA. There is a ton of coffee in the nose of this beer. Very roasted and pleasant. Seems a little on the burnt side, though. Scantly transparent dark mahogany body with a nice, creamy light tan head that is strong. Starts a little sweet, before this becomes a little roasted in the middle with some buttery diacetyl flavors. Coffee flavors follow with a nice roastiness. A lingering dusty cardboard flavor is present late. This is strange, and seems a bit flawed. Dark black-brown pour. The aroma is lovely. Soft and earthy with a fruity sort of coffee aroma. A little bit of blackberry an red currant flavour. Moderate bitterness and a light palate. Nice coffee porter although it could use more body.

Has an interesting aroma and taste to it. It’s sweet, unlike other beers and this style. And has an almost sour, fruity aftertaste. jgb9348 (6257) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - DEC 13, 2012
Nice rich deep brown body with a thick, three centimetre tall light brown, slightly soapy head. Aroma of tons of complex notes - prunes, earth, dirt, grass, nuts, peat, roasted malt and of course - coffee. Medium-bodied; Assertive prune and pit fruit flavour at first with a good malt backbone behind and a nutty and slightly earthy finish. Aftertaste surprisingly thin with a bit of fruitiness noticeable, some lighter malt notes and a hint of grapes at the end. Overall, a good smelling and looking beer, but the flavour and especially the aftertaste simply disappoint. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from BevMo in San Bruno, California on 05-March-2012 for US$4.69 sampled a few days after returning from Hawaii, at home in Washington on 13-December-2012.

Bottle:   Black pour, large foamy beige head, fairly nice lacing.   Pale roasted nose, soft coffee grinds.   Pale roasted malts, more coffee grounds than the nose suggests.   Body is light, mouthfeel seems a bit
watery.   Has a unripened berry and bakers chocolate sort of finish, along with the pale roasted malts and coffee grounds.   Tiz okay, but could use more body. rayOfBeer (674) - El Cerrito, California, USA - JUL 23, 2013
Bottle: black-brown pour with small tan head. Aroma of coffee, roast grain, and something peppery. Flavor is creamy coffee, roast grain, somewhat sweet-tart malt, and smoke. Flavor is okay, just not a standout. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - AUG 22, 2013
Bottle; poured a dark brown color with a light brown head. Aroma of coffee, caramel, and oats. Nice, pleasant aroma. Flavor was good, but had something a bit off about it. A bit too much sweetness, and some weird fruity notes. Ok overall. Dogbrick (13012) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 9, 2014
Sample at Kurtkeller 005: Coffee-tastic 01 on 02/08/2014. Dark brown pour with a medium thin beige head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of coffee and butterscotch. Light to medium body with flavors of roast malt, caramel and mild coffee. The finish is sweet with a malt and mild coffee aftertaste. Decent overall. yackery (168) - California, USA - FEB 13, 2014
Appearance is small, dissolving, brown sandy head with fast brown lacing over a mahogany barely translucent body. Aroma is coffee and chocolate coca cola. Taste is mildly sweet. Palate is soft with some cream. Finish is coffee/dark chocolate bitter. Classy.
