Enjoyed at the brewpub, pours a very dark brown almost black with a brown head and lacing in the glass, the aroma is more toasty and of roast and chocolate than hops, the flavor has a chocolate like front end with a little bit of the hops in the finish, kind of more of the roasty side, could of used a hint of hops to it. tmoreau (4501) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - FEB 18, 2015
Shared 16 oz. can poured to snifters, showing a clear, darkest brown/mahogany hue, with a frothy layer of brownish tan head foam, and wavy ribbons of lacing. The nose was malty, moderate roastiness, caramel & toffee. The taste added a moderate, earthy & dry bitterness that lingered into the finish. Medium bodied, with decent carbonation, and fairly disguised, alcohol presence, or palate lame at this point in the sampling session. Tasty brew. boozedude (2228) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - NOV 28, 2014

Black pour with white head. Tan foamy head. Sweet and fruity aroma. Raisin and brown sugar flavors. Had this on draft at six row brewery as part of a flight. Bartzilla (622) - La Mesa, California, USA - NOV 7, 2014
Pretty standard for the black IPA category. No issues here. Not my favorite style, but this is what I would want if I needed a black ipa. Smells roasty and tastes of darker malt with a nice hop backbone. Good for the style.

16oz sticker-wrapped can from Lukas Liquors in Missouri, purchased during my stay for RBSG. Slightly high fill. Pitch black color. Pours with a nice big light brown head, with good retention. Leaves good, thicker lace. Awesome big dark chocolate and coffee malt aroma. Nice earthy, mildly piney hop. Bigger body, good stout-like chewiness to the texture. Light dry finish. Very smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Moderate to bigger bitter taste. Lighter sweet. Light spicy. Tasty, enjoyable, satisfying double black IPA. Great to enjoy with my sandwich. I’m glad I picked up a can of this.. Better than expected edgallow (4305) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 3, 2014
