Black pour with a frothy off white head. Nice cocoa laden aroma with lots of coffee and dark roasted malt. Touch of sweet vanilla in there. Flavors were roasty on the verge of burnt, tasty coffee character, slightly sweet with a lingering espresso like bitter finish. Mouthfeel was slightly thin with a creaminess to it. Light carbonation. On the list for my next beer store visit. Nate (4279) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 22, 2013
From can. Chocolate malted nose, sweet with brown sugar and molasses. Tootsie Roll. Dark black opaque with foamy-rocky light tan lacing head. Medium chewy body with medium-light carbonation. Carbonic tang and light alcoholic warming. Starts sweet and malty with lots of chocolate, some coffee, and a barley wine-like sweet malt flavor. Coffee and light vanilla. Finish is sweet with a good hit of astringent bitterness. Fairly smooth after with lingering bitter. DrinkEmUpJones (1069) - Georgia, USA - MAY 22, 2013
Deep brown color with tan head. Coffee and cocoa aroma. Big beer on the palate with a huge coffee mouthfeel. Great malty body with coffee that might keep me awake for days. Elwood (3336) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - MAY 20, 2013
Serving: 12 oz. Can from State Line Liquors. It pours a ruddy brown with a frothy tan head. The nose has a bit of brown malt, green apple, abd brown sugar. The flavor is bittersweet with a good bit of earth, black coffee, and bittersweet chocolate. Medium to full body with a warming and bitter finish. Very different. Michbeerlover (147) - - MAY 20, 2013
Pours very dark brown, almost black with a 1/2 finger off white head. Aroma of sweet malt, mild coffee and some dark chocolate. Taste matches the aroma. Mouthfeel is medium with lively carbonation. Finish is slightly bitter and dry. Pretty good......

Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a very dark brown color with orange highlights and a large tan head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was dryish and roasty coffee and cocoa. The flavor was dryish roasty and toasty with notes of coffee, cream and vanilla. Medium length dry coffee finish. Moderately full bodied. Interesting. Can @ Crooked Stave ROY-G-BIV Day, courtesy of arminjewell. Thanks buddy! Pitch black pour with a big brown head and good lacing. Coffee, caramel, brown sugar, light roast, and cocoa in the aroma. Taste is caramel, espresso, earthy, a touch of chocolate, and brown sugar with a light bitter finish. Medium body with soft carbonation. Not bad and pretty cool that it comes in cans.
