Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans... and put them in one vessel. The beans of bygone brewers, united with cacao and coffee, to create a trinity of roasted, rich, and savory flavors.

A nice brown body with a tan head that had little retention and no lace. Aroma was a mix of mildly roasted coffee malts and a good profile of cocoa malts, some mild peat notes. Flavor was well balanced slightly stronger on the roasted coffee malts than I expected from the aroma and the cocoa was just right. The alcohol was well hidden. Somewhat elevated carbonation, and it could have had a heavier mouth feel. Overall it was decent.

nearly opaque dark brown color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, burnt wood, and a bit of cocoa. Taste of more roast, cocoa, espresso vanilla bean, and a light alcohol in the finish.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2014 Thanks to claspada for this. Sorry to say it didnt measure up. 12 oz can. A: Opaque brown verging on black. Thick speckled creme head. Looks just about right. N: Faint coffee and bittersweet cacao. Deep smell of malted barley. Theres noticeable smokiness and a hint of peat. Touch of vanilla and milk. Tons of grains. T: Sharp. Really sharp. Has a burnt, acrid chocolate flavor and pronounced ash, like they charred the oak barrel. Coffee has gotten lost on its way. Caramel shows, and there are hints of honey and flowers. Red grapes and uncooked macaroni? Not great. Under-attenuated? M: Lots of alcohol and a medium mouthfeel I wasnt expecting. O: really misses a lot of what should make it good. Very bitter, and yet, somehow backed up by nutrasweet. Ill age the other can in hopes this mellows out or in case I got a bad one because this never comes together.

12 ounce can. Translucent dark brown color with deep red highlights. Small creamy beige head with lovely clinging Belgian lace. Rich roasted malt aroma has notes of dark roasted coffee and chocolate. Flavor of strong French Roast coffee and dark bakers chocolate. Lots of bitter hops as well. This is a beer to sip slowly and savor. Its that big!

Pours almost completely black with only a small tinge of red on the edge of the glass when held up to the light. Strong roasty aromas, green coffee, some floral hops. Very, very bitter taste, but it stems not from the hops, but from the immense amount of coffee in this beer. Jesus. I cant imagine how much caffeine this thing has in it. This is basically cold, carbonated coffee with a shot of liquor in it. That being said, its also pretty good. Worth a try.

Minimal head with a tan foam ring. Nose of black coffee and heavy roast. Moderate astringency and strong booze in the mouth. Booze is upfront and warming and gives a nail polish like property. Meh

Can to sampler glass. Nice dark rich pour with pillowy head. Booze and coffee with a little malt on the nose. Nice coffee bitterness. Coffee and chocolate flavors. Texture resembles an oatmeal. Very nice.

Wished for more aroma--a nice sipping beer with strong coffee flavor. It gives away more sweetness as warms up. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz can. Deep brown with lasting yellow-tan head. Nose is cola and smooth roasted malt with soft notes of espresso and cocoa nibs. Flavor is velvety roasted malt with nice pop of bitter cocoa powder, Bakers chocolate, and fresh roast coffee. Nice coating mouthfeel with gritty, half melted dark/unsweetened chocolate coating the tongue in the finish. Really enjoyable, layered bitterness.

UPDATED: APR 9, 2013 300th New York rating! 12 ounce can from Wine Warehouse Charlottesville. Pours a clear dark red-brown color with a large frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of cocoa, coffee and a roasty, almost ashy note. The taste is intense coffee, bitter chocolate, roast. Pretty boozy. Medium bodied. Toned back a bit, this could be good, but as of now its a bit of a mess.
