Very dark brown pour, lots of head and lacing. Smell of chocolate and especially coffee -- lighter roasted coffee than you’ll usually smell in beer (kind of like Newman’s Own if you’ve ever had that). Bitter taste, fair amount of carbonation, alcohol is masked well. r464 (2372) - Earth, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 7, 2013
Very dark brown with a thick tan head. Punchy, roasty malt. Hints of coffee, cocoa, vanilla. Smooth, long finish. Very nice. The alcohol strength is well hidden. Chadquest (37) - Illinois, USA - FEB 6, 2013
Coffee on the nose, but not overpowering, roasted malts. callmemickey (4561) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 5, 2013
dark brown body with misc lacing
flavors are brown sugar up front with latte and a burnt sugar cookie taste
mouthfeel is medium carb and body
Dark black body, massive pale tan head, dense lacing. Intense coffee, underlying chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor is a bit charred, a bit abrasive. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, some bitterness and earth in the finish. jhamp9 (1985) - Corinth, Texas, USA - FEB 5, 2013
Dark brown pour with a thick beige head. Aroma is sweet chocolate, caramel, and sugar cookies. Taste is bitter coffee, milk chocolate, some alcohol, and a little vanilla. A little chalky on the palate. Really good overall.

Appearance: The body appears black in the glass, but pours a clear chestnut that shows through the edges. The head is tall, taking up half of the glass after a moderate pour while forming a messy uneven tan head leaving lots of lacing on the glass.
Aroma: The aroma is fantastic, it’s reminiscent of a mocha espresso shot that leans dry with a touch of nuts in the aroma.
Taste: The intro isn’t shy about the coffee at all. The espresso flavors are strong, even slightly astringent, making it hard to determine what else is here on the first sip. On the second sip the coffee is still dominate, but I can pick up slightly dark and bitter leaning cocoa with alcohol showing on the finish that lingers of coffee and dries out. This isn’t balanced, but it’s certainly enjoyable.
Palate: Medium to full bodied with some carbonation noted.
Overall: I like 3Beans, but the coffee is just too much here. I would like a bit more balance with a little more chocolate flavors and it couldn’t hurt to mask the alcohol a bit better. This is a good beer, but $14 is high for a 4 pack. I have 3 more though that I think will settle down beautifully in a year or so.
Aroma of chewy molasses, vanilla wafers, and cappuccino. Pours deep brown with a medium brown head. Taste is very nice and bitter. Sharp dry coffee up front and a smooth vanilla cookie as it sits in the mouth. Nice malty fruits underneath. Very pleasant. Niko100 (2998) - Chicago, New York, USA - FEB 4, 2013

Thanks, Chris! Served in a cervoise. Heavy cocoa in the nose with some backing vanilla. Flavor goes toward coffee with nice vanilla in the background. Smooth and creamy.
