On tap. Fresh malt aroma and black pour. Crisp and flavorful. Toasted grain and malt taste with a nice hop tingle. A very interesting and unusual brew. fluffy (2461) - St Petersburg, Florida, USA - APR 13, 2009
draft at Redbones in Somerville, MA. no real aroma other than a little bit of oaty citrus. flavor was watery and bland, some malt and doughiness, and a little cocoa in the background. aftertaste is mildly tobacco and caramel that disappears quickly. judging by the other ratings, im wondering if i got some from an old keg or a skunked line? hopdog (13191) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 9, 2009
On tap at Capone’s. Poured a deeper brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of toasted and burnt malts and wheatiness. Tastes of roastiness, wheat, chocolate, and some lighter nuttiness. beerbill (3619) - Laurel, New York, USA - MAR 1, 2009
On tap at Bellport Cold Beer and Soda. Pours a murky very dark brown with a thin creamy tan head that lasted until mid-glass and left decent lace. Unfortunately, the appearance is this beer’s strongest attribute. The aroma is mild wheat and not much else. The flavor is not much different and is mostly wheat grain along with just a bit of roast. Bitter at the finish with lingering dryness that extends beyond the swallow. Uninteresting. Eyedrinkale (3235) - Astoria, New York, USA - JAN 22, 2009
Draft at Kingshead. Small head but I blame that more on the pour. Almost burnt malt aroma. Flavor is on the sweet side and tastes like a porter. Lively mouthfeel and a bit short in the finish.
