It’s been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and we’re ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isn’t a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going ’round this winter. It isn’t our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. It’s a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA — but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

Nice clear golden orange with small soapy head that recedes to a film. Aroma is certainly resinous, with concentrated pine, citrus, freshly mown grass and honey. The taste is also really concentrated, with resin, grass, pine, sweet malts, grapefruit, lime. Fairly full bodied. D/IIPAs aren’t normally my thing but this is spectacular. Feels like I could drink it all day but I’m sure the 9.1% ABV would disagree.

Resin pours a bright orange. Leaves plenty of lacing on the glass. Aroma is herbal and dank. Taste has some navel orange notes but also carries a wallop of alcohol. The bitterness is there at the top of the mouth. But doesn’t really smack you much. A bit medicinal too.

Happen to try this bad boy with the chance of it being as good as Bengali. Resin far exceeded my expectations. my new go too really. very "west coast-y" has a very bright hoppiness to it. crisp, refreshing, bright, herb-pine-citrus top and back bone. leaves a pleasant hop linger. Bravo, Sixpoint!

Pour is copper in color. some small head, white, is present. Aroma is floral and Piney in nature, with some spicy, earthy tones as well. Taste is similar, with sweet malts there. Light body, somewhat disappointing.

Intense hoppy flavor. Sweet hoppy gray taste. A bit flat. Medium bitter aftertaste long lasting.

Huge spongy head. Hops whaft up and smack you in the nose. Bam. Smooth mouth feel a first add the flavors unfold gradually. Leaves a peppery hop residue in the sides of the mouth. I really like this.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2014 Can from Craft in Red Hill QLD. Smelt great upon pouring with a lovely white frothy head. Tastes of pine, passionfruit and resin with a nice balance of peachy sweetness but not too overpowering. It?s the hop flavours and the great bitterness which impressed me the most almost coming straight on after that initial sweetness. Fantastic beer of course which I?d heard much about but never had the opportunity to sample. A truly well worth it 2IPA . Great beer.

Thick brew somewhat reminiscent of oil mixed gasoline. Heavily bitter with lots of pine and resin. A fair bit of grapefruit on the gorgeous nose. Ultimately a bit too one-sided on the bittering hops and too alcoholic.

Can at Dolphin Hotel, Florida, 9th November 14. Cracked the can and this gives a great floral, pine aroma, you get the resin. The beer tastes clean and the floral hops sing, it’s bitter and sweet, but not overly. Lovely DIPA
