COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and we’re ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isn’t a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going ’round this winter. It isn’t our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. It’s a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA — but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

Can poured into a tulip. Orange/amber, white head. Fruity piney nose. Very bitter flavor, with biscuit, malt, resin. Bitter finish. More bitter than a DIPA should be.

Poured from the can into a pint glass a golden amber with a nice thick head. Aroma is hoptastic. Flavor is a nice balance of over the top resinous citrus hops with a nice sweetness. The finish is outstanding!! This is a go to brew for me when I am out. I know what to expect & its never less. The can always gets a nice look-see from others in the bar.

Pours a nice golden yellow/orange with a thick head that lingers. Aroma is very citrus forward with some pine and grass and a hint of hop aroma. Taste is very well balanced and hides the IBU and ABV very, very well. Palate is well balanced with some citrus that is followed quickly by a nice malt and hop balance. It isn’t until the finish that the bitterness of the hops really comes through.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2014 Clear orange, decent head. Smells like evergreen, juniper, mint, pine sap, warm. Bitter resin, grapefruit peel, pine needles. Very clean flavor. Light on the palate; long bitter finish.

I’m finding the same issue with most beers from Sixpoint, and this was no different. Lovely hoppy aroma of grapefruit, big juicy hops, it’s making a big promise that I hope it can keep. Clear amber pour, and again, not that its bad, but its the norm. Taste doesn’t live up to the aroma, burnt resin flavor, syrupy, without imagination.

unclemattie (4406) - Georgia, USA - MAR 9, 2014
Tall, skinny, 12oz can. Golden, Orange color. Foamy tan head. Aromatics of resiny hops. Loads of hops in the nose. Tastes of pale malts, sweet caramels; all undertoned by the huge hops. Dry hopped, long boil hopped. Lingering bitterness has characteristics of pine, citrus rind. Loads if resin. (3994)

Pint draft at Plan B in West Hartford, CT. Pour is a hazy copper with a fluffy off white head. Smell is spicy with oily hops and sweet malt, plenty if citrus. Taste is surprisingly malty with sweetness of caramel, bright citrus and dank piney hops. Alcohol very well hidden, and not overly bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
