sample on 6/5/08, rating from notes. great aroma and solid deep golden appearance... but becomes more average through the palate and flavor profile. Medium body, soft palate and decent finish. A good, yet average IIPA. Ibrew2or3 (8814) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JUN 3, 2008
Courtesy of CigarCityBrew. Pours crystal clear copper with tan head. The aroma is a bit of pine hops and malts to go along with cherry and dark fruity notes that I’m just able to identify before I must pull my nose away due to the aversion reflex caused by a snoot full of alcohol heat. The taste is mostly sweetness moving into cherry and sweet strawberry dark fruitiness. To midway and the finish sweet sticky malts surface along with a moderate level of pine hop – like flavor. It gets mildly medicinal for a moment or two before the sweet dark fruity esters take it to the finish. A bit warming too. Comes up way short on hops for the label stated style, IIPA, that I’m used to. I’ve had a couple dozen barleywines hoppier than this. 17thfloor (2444) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 31, 2008
UPDATED: JAN 22, 2011 [rerate 1.22.10] . . . . . . . harsh review there the first time... oops, aroma is nice this time, flavor is piney, peachy, bit odd though.
Pours a clear glowing red with a tint of brown and a small off-white froth. Horrible aroma of soy sauce and vegetables, some cotten candy and fridge. Yucky malts, subdued bitter pine hops and cotten candy flavor. Medium/full body with decent smooth mellow carbonation, slightly sticky. A mess but not terrible. 188.8.131.52.13 hopscotch (11236) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 25, 2008
Bottle... MBSBF’08 ... Slightly hazed amber ale with orange highlights and a small, white, big bubbled head. The fruity aroma provides notes of tropical fruit, toffee and lactic acid. Phenolic as well. Medium to full-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Leans on the sweet side of balance... lots of toffee. Finishes sweet with additional gobs of toffee. Very one -maybe two- dimensional. Beershine (5253) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 14, 2008
Bottle, thanks hopscotch. Bright amber, medium head. Herbal, some esters. Moderate phenols, slightly medicinal. Banana. Rubbing alcohol. Strong, not multi-faceted.

Bottle, pours a clear amber. Aroma is citrus grapefruit. Flavor is hoppy with a dry finish. Mainly citrus flavor with a big hop punch. This is nice. SDbruboy (1863) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 10, 2008
22 oz. bottle from GABF Kegmaster David, via Dean at SDBrewCo. Pours deep ruddy amber with a small white head that leaves a bit of lace. Fruity malts, earthy, soft hops with citrus sherbet and a bit of pine dust. Malty and fruity, still dusty with caramel, piney hops, florals and a little spice in the finish. Medium to full body, tingly carbonation. jercraigs (10886) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 9, 2008
2008-05-08. Orange copper body with a good sized creamy off-white head, and nice lace. Pleasant sweet orange citrus hops in the aroma, light resiny alcohol. (7+) Flavour starts with orange hops, light astringent orange peel, wave of mild alcohol distracts and mutes the forerunners, but they return and slowly grow stronger, light lingering hops in the finish. Smooth average plus palate. Pleasant, full flavoured without being rip your face off bitter. Restrained, and rather pleasant. I seem to be on the high end of the scale on this one, guess I was just in the mood for it. Bottle shared by Jon Walker madcow75 (426) - Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 6, 2008
Bottle with wax. Pours hazy amber with an off white head, diminishes to thin film. Aroma of citrus hops, grapefruit and some sweet malt. Taste is more citrus hops, oranges, nice bitterness rounded out with some decent sweetness. Finishes with bitterness and some orange peel. Not great, but ok, probably wouldn’t buy again.
