It’s Old Man Bitter

A mix of citrus and pine that will remind you of the time you went on a vision quest with your Native American cousin and you woke up in a pine grove full of grapefruit trees.

An American-style India Pale Ale with a deep golden-orange color. Bitter and hoppy, with a surprisingly smooth finish.

Modus Hoperandi, an IPA sitting at 6.8% ABV and 65 IBUs.

Brownish orange. Average head. Harsh grapefruit flavor with so much hops that everything else is numbed. It is a perfectly enjoyable beer, but very very far from an IPA; would rather call it an over-hopped english countrystyle ale.

330 ml can at Håndverkerstuene. Dark copper. Crystal clear. Small off-white head that clings to the glass. Apricoty and grassy hop nose. Delicious hops. Crisp hoppy flavours with a distinctive bite. Lingering bitterness. Some malts but body feels light. Caramelly. Tasty.

The beer is a super dark orange that is slightly clear. The head is off white, pretty light looking. It rises about a finger is gone quickly leaving a very thin head. Lacing is pretty good. The aroma is strong and complex. It starts off with a little citrus in the grapefruit variety then it finishes a very strong fresh hoppiness. Bitterness is there buts its more of dry hopped fresh in your hand hoppiness. The taste is super hoppy, almost a little to bitter for my liking, plus it dominates from start to finish with little complexity. There is some definite pine. The feel is a little watery, but has a very dry bitter finish.

25.03.2011. 0,355l Bottle. Systembolaget Strömstad. Pale brown to golden colour with white head. Aroma is totaly dominated by bitterhops. The hops gives this beer a very refreshing and good taste. There is also a kind of dry aromatic bitter aftertaste. Very good beer.

Clear orange amber with a creme white head with varying size on the bubbles. Big aroma of tropical fruit and flowery hops. Mango, peach, pineapple, passionfruit, pine needles and cookies. Some buttery notes and caramel. Taste is a fruit bomb with a smooth, sweet and robust malt base and a strong bitterness. Tropical fruit, caramel, citruspeel and dry herbs in the aftertaste. Eucalyptus or wormwood. Medium body and carbonation. Really nice!

355 ml bottle served in a wine-tasting glass. 2" beige head, amber body. Nose: Lychee, grapefruit, mango, apricot, nuts, citrus and the slightest hint of raspberry hard-candy. Taste: Grapefruit, resin, apricot, orange-peel and a hint of pine. Dry, bitter after-taste. A little rough, but in a nice way.

Bottled at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Amber color. Perfumed caramelly and lemony aroma with notes of candy. Perfumed lemony hop flavor with caramel with aromatic biscuity maltiness and soft bitterness. A bit too sweet and caramelly for my taste.
