This English Special Bitter is our “Special Ale.” Special because it is one of only a handful of canned microbrews in the nation. Special because the Galena hops and pale ale malts create a crisp first sip, a hoppy tongue, and a malty sweet finish. Though “bitter” is part of the name, “better” would be a more accurate term. Fresh and lively, this canned beer suits the needs of any outdoor enthusiast. Like it says on the can: Fish, Luau, Golf, Raft, Toboggan. Ska can!

Simply mediocre. I get molasses in the aroma. The taste is a bit spicy, and a bit candy-like, but it's all too clean tasting. The name made me think it was an ESB, an English beer by nature. And this tastes too Americanized. It's got a grainy malt character. As an APA, it's all right.

This is a pretty solid, middle of the road ESB. A little bitter for my taste and a just a tad too alcoholic to be sessionable, but its got a great malty sweet body.

Really want to like this but there are just much better ESBs out there. A little too bitter.

12 oz. can. Pour was clear light copper, off white head. Aroma was light malt. Taste was light bitter, pale malts, light fruit, hop finish.

This is a perfect session beer, equal malty with only a bit bitter. Clean looking with a steady, creamy head ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I like this one. Probably the last ESB I drink with any kind of regularity. The SKa mix pack is a good one.

Poured from a can, substantial head and hearty aroma. As the head subsides malt comes through to dominate the aroma. Pleasing light malt flavors pair well with substantial hops. One of my favorites.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2016 Can from Brewdog Online Shop. Pours clear golden orange with a thin white head. Aromas of nutty malt, citrus. Taste is cooked orange, nutty malt. Sweet finish.

Pretty generic golden ale. Sweet malt, some fruit, light to moderate bitterness. It’s OK.

Not much on the nose....some bread. Crystal clear dark orange, with a super thin white head. Sweet caramel up front. Bread/biscuit throughout. Bitterness balances sweetness pretty well. Bitterness has some spiciness, earthy tones. Average.

Origin: Can. Vessel: Can. Supplier: Gift (Romsey). Bitter caramel with high carbonation.
