Rich brown wooden molasses body with a thin layer of caramelized head. The nose is heavy with phenols, raisin sugar, carmunich malt, and caramelized Belgian candi sugar. The body continues with an intensely heavy muskiness and strong breath of clove smoke. Alcohol is well hidden. In your face phenols. A solid, bold Belgian, best enjoyed in smaller doses. Draft at the brewery. Brown with a white head, left lacing as I drank. The aroma is loaded with bubblegum, with a bit of dark fruits in the background. The flavor has more bubblegum, date, raisins, a little spice on the finish. Finishes with a with a subdued bitterness. Moderate body on it. Pretty nice stuff. gracefullypunk (667) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 30, 2010
WA Belgianfest. Pours red brown with cream lace. Aromas of dough and piney hops. Taste is much of the same--earthy and piney.
