COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Maelstrom IPAs very name and style comes from the Sea. Tall ships on long voyages needed a big beer with a hearty backbone and pounds and pounds of glorious hops. Maelstrom IPA is a brilliant whirlpool of 7 different Northwest hops expertly melded together to create a powerful pint.

Served from tap into a standard pint. Poured a slight amber color with minimal white head present. Lacing was also minimal throughout. The aroma consisted of sweet malt with light hops. The flavor was malty, with hoppiness, and a hint of wood. However, it did leave a bad after-taste well after swallowing. It was medium on the palate with low carbonation. Overall this is a pretty nicely well-balanced brew with a balance of sweet and bitter.

Serving: Draft. It pours a clear amber color with a frothy, white head. The nose is loaded with hops. Notes of citrus, pine, and herbals tend to hide the toasted malt notes. The flavor is decidedly bitter but there seems to be a decent dose of malt there to help balance things out. It almost seems like and DIPA. Some caramel and a little off butter note are there as well. Medium bodied with medium carbonation and a lingering bitter finish. A fairly solid IPA. I look forward to additional brews from these guys.
