This stuff is terrible. The first surprise was that, when I poured it, it was distinctly cloudy and had lumps floating about in it. I wasn’t expecting that in a lager. The second surprise, and afar less welcome one was the really heavy diacetyl aroma. Coupled with soggy cardboard. Not so bad on the palate, although drinking it from a Duvel glass whilst holding my nose at the same time presented something of a physical challenge. Very cereally and far too sweet for a lager, with a raw malt background. Some hoppy bite coming through on the finish redeemed things marginally. At least many pale lagers are anodyne and inoffensive. This was positively unpleasant. I struggled to finish it. To be fair, it was past its best before date. 250ml bottle (thank God).

On tap at In de Wildeman. Clear golden colour, dense white head. Aroma of butter and sour mash, not really good. Flavour is sweet, light malty, light sour and light buttery, light bitter finish. Watery texture. Thin. Nah.. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 18, 2007
A Mes rate:
Draught at Bruxellensis. Lager looks. Drinkable and refreshing. Light bitterness and none of the expected cardboard. Surprised that I actually thought this was ok. Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 12, 2007

Comments: A pretty decent Belgian pils really, sweet as is the case with most of the country’s attempts, but still crisp, highly carbonated and well hopped.
On tap at Wildeman. Yellow grapefruit body with small head. Citrus nose. Taste of grapefruit and hops. Grainy. Okay though.

Cafe Belge, Canterbury. A dirty tasting lager. Ho ho ho. Drinkable, but not that good. Adjunct flavours. Flaccid and greasy. BoBoChamp (5755) - Gent, BELGIUM - MAY 28, 2009
33cl, from the brewery, not complex brew, yet refreshing, balanced, clear, small head, nothing special duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - AUG 30, 2004
Bottle. This is just crappy Be;gian lager, about on par with Stella, kinda bland and fizzy, but with bit more appeal than most mass produced lagers. Hildigöltur (5104) - København, DENMARK - JUN 27, 2004
Bottle kindly donated by the brewmaster himself. Golden coloured. Strange aroma with notes of ammonium. Grassy flavour with a rather bitter finish. goozen (4122) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - MAR 11, 2009
Tap at ZBF 2009. Golden lager one of the better ones in Belgium. Well balanced bitternesh as supposed to be.
