(bottle - 16.9 oz) Hazy yellow/orange color with a fizzy and puffy white head. Very mild aroma, mostly sweetness with some yeast and alcohol hiding under everything. The taste begins very sweet and yeasty with a crisp appley finish and the slightest touch of metal flakes. Medium-bodied with medium carbonation. muzzlehatch (4959) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 9, 2006
500 ml bottle, purchased in December 2005 from one of the many, many midwestern shops that seem to specialize in mid-2s Euro lagers from the former Easter bloc countries...geez, Belgian beers not good enough for Chicago, Milwaukee and the Twin Cities? I jest. Sampled from a Zwiec lager glass in the company of some smoked gouda, at home, cellar temp. Huge fluffy though not terribly stable white head atop a very clear, pale, slightly oily yellow body....very, very light nose doesn’t offer much of interest: somewhat stale old grains and gass, light fuesel quality....body is very, very sweet, Karo syrup and old honey leavened a bit by moderate alcohol presence and maybe a tiny hint of licorice/cherry....syrupy maltiness, dries out and gets more alcholic towards the finish, not a trace of hops....like most malt liquors, impossible to drink as it warms. Not quite a drain pour. demitriustown (1192) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - NOV 4, 2005
Golden hue to the pour with a white carbonated head. Heavy tones of alcohol, copper, and a light grainy aroma. Flavor is strong alochol, slightly malty, with a wheat texture. Palate is slightly bitter yet clean and crisp. Decent Ukrainian beer. I liked it frankenkitty (2012) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - OCT 4, 2005

Ahhhh.... the smell of coins on a cool autumn evening. Amber/golden-bodied with a fizzy, white head. Additional aromas were roasted grain and baby powder. Flavor was sadly similar to the aroma: powdery, roasted and metallic. Sickly sweet. It’s sad when the best thing a beer has going is its ABV.

This was a recommendation from the local eastern european beer specialist. This is the Colf 45 of the Ukraine. It’s got a lot of ethanol (7,2%) but that’s about all. The color is sort of a cloudy orange yellow. It has a nice bitter start, but an industrial finish. No head to speak of. The nose is brown sugar and for some strange reason, ehtanol.

500mL bottle.. recommended by my Ukrainian friend. Deep golden pour with a smattering of white head. Sweet somewhat floral aroma with some alcohol present. Mouthfeel is grainy and almost metallic on the finish. Flavor was sweet, but also had some stale flowers and an unidentified funkiness. Composition was also reminiscent of a malt liquor (there has to be some corn in there). Finish was smooth and slightly warming.. especially as it warmed a bit. I’m getting nervous. I’m starting to enjoy these European strong lagers. This one is deep gold with a tall frizzy head and lazy carbonation. The aroma is basically sweet, grainy malts. The flavor is that same malt sweetness, a white pepper spiciness, and an alcoholic burn on the tongue. It’s got a bit of a spicy, alcohol finish. That must be what I’m enjoying. Clear golden, big fluffy head, some lacing. Aroma is sweet with hint of alcohol. Taste is sweet malts, pepper, alcohol. Another beer that makes me think of Malt Liquor mixed with Maibock. Palate is o.k., but kind of grainy. AustinMilbarge (681) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 25, 2005
A little muddled in mouthfeel. Also, on the sweet side of things, with regard to the malt. Fairly high carbonation. A good amount of bang for your buck at 7.3%, I would drink again with pizza, sandwich, or something spicey. Sancho (245) - Da Bronx, New York, USA - JAN 11, 2005
