Ruby red in colour, this all malt ale is brewed from a combination of roasted barley malts and English aroma hops. Smooth in taste. The hopping is generous but not bitter and has a unique flavour that has become a trademark for Sleeman.

NOTE: Known as "Sleeman Original Dark 50* Amber Ale" in the US.

This has a very traditional English ale taste. It grows on you. The first one was fine, but not that impressive, then a few days later the next two I enjoyed much more. A day later the next one is even better. I don’t know why, perhaps its just a need to familiarize myself with what’s going on tastewise. Not that hoppy, not that malty, not that heavy, yet adequately hearty. Easy drinking, pleasant taste. Nice head, nice aroma, pleasant taste. Right about in the league of a decent ale from England. Not quite the quality of Samuel Smith (I don’t mean Samuel Adams), but they are pretty much at the top of the heap with the high price to go with it. Nevertheless, its up there with some of the better ones out of England.

Ruby, red ale. Quite flat. Some bitters, some roasted malts, bits of caramel. Fresh taste

bottle. Poured clear ruby red with a thin off-white head. Caramel aroma, slight alcoholic. Medium body, thin creamy carbonation. Flavour of caramel, vanilla, toasted grains, grassy hops.

Typical Sleemans beer, nothing special but drinkable and a bit better than the average macro brew. Fairly malty with a bit of roastiness, a little sweet, not much hops and a bit watery.

not feeling this one - not enough hops to notice and a not horrible but generic and boring malt character, and that’s all there is.

New England Bucket List Trip #140. Keg. Pours a clear red with a thin creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of caramel, raisin, toffee. The taste is raisin, toffee, grain, mild grassy hops. Thin bodied.

Correcte !

3 finger head stays a moment then gone. amber red looking. smell caramel malt, maple nut brown ale? smell. Taste is bitterness & some flavor plus water & it’s high medium bodied. Smell is best part. Look, smell & taste is NOT dar ale. It 100% fail’s as a dark ale. More like an amber ale, amber pale ale, English bitter. Deff NOT a dark ale. :( It’s okay but not what I perfer.

Bottle 341ml. Pours clear brown/very deep amber with low light-beige head. Some lacing. Aroma is of caramel, malt. Taste is of caramel, malt, slight acidity, faint bitterness, sugar, hints of roasted malt, faint nuts, slight unpleasant aftertaste. Palate: Light body, medium-high carbonation. Overall: Not too bad, but very bland. Straight-forwardly uninteresting, and that aftertaste...

341 ml bottle @ Pier Seventeen Blind River. Pours a clear ruby red with a large beige head. Aromas are grass, hay, chalk and a little alcohol. Tastes are grain and caramel malts. Light bodied, medium carbonation with a very short finish. Pretty standard mass-produced stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
