Draft at brewpub. Dark black coffee with little to no head. Nose has tons of sweetened coffee with a touch of smoke and some roasted nut. Heavily sugared cheap coffee with a touch of cocoa, light smoke and some cola. The bock is a bit lost here and the coffee is just to sweet and over powering, for me. Dark brown color with a tan head. Big chocolate mocha espresso aromas. Smooth, rich mouthfeel. Good mocha and caramel sweet flavors with dark roasted coffee/espresso bitterness to finish. Great coffee brew. savnac (2391) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - OCT 9, 2009
On tap @ the Sleeping Lady. Dark amber brown with a small tan head. The aroma is coffee, caramel, roasted malt and just a touch of spicy hops. The flavor is bitter sweet but more on the sweet side, the coffee is up front but not overpowering at all. Medium to full body with a mild carbonation and a soft mouth feel. This is a great beer. 19-Jan-08 (Draft: Connoisseur’s Session, 2008 Great Alaskan Beer and Barley Wine Festival in Anchorage, AK) Sweet, with a strong espresso aroma, there’s no question where this beer is going to take me. This delicious beer tastes sweet and caramely, but with sweet coffee dominating, and the moderate bitterness works beautifully to balance the beer. Full-bodied on the palate but not cloying or syrupy. Dark-brown color, almost black, with a tall, foam, tan head that holds half an inch and leaves nice foamy lace on the glass. This may be the best beer I’ve tasted from Sleeping Lady, and man, what a way to start off the Connoisseur’s Session!
