Scottish Amber Ale
An amber ale that’s both smooth and sturdy, with a wee bit of dark roasted malt and noble hops.

Nice strong beer. Wouldn't think this is nine percent. Very smooth and flavorful. Better tasting when. Not ice cold ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured a muddy brown-amber with a small tan head. No lacing to speak of. Nose of roasted malts, fruit, and some floral hops. Medium in body and smooth in the mouth even with the high alcohol. Flavor is very rich and full of mats flavors with the fruit all the way to the finish. Darn nice beer.

Poured up at Sleepy Dog with a deep rutty red amber body that supports a light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up malts, roasted malts, some pomegranate fruit mixed with plum and date like dark fruity esters. The taste is nice and rich but the roasted malts cut into the richness and sweetness to provide a balance. I get roasted malts, some plum and date dark fruity esters notes mixed with a dash of pomegranate. This smooths itself into the finish. Tasty sipper where the ABV is very well hidden.

On tap at the brewery, dark red pour, lots of caramel malts and sugar sweetness. Very light on the smoke. It’s ok.

Tap at the brewery. Rating #19. Nice Scottish ale, lots of caramel with a little bit of hops. Good stuff. (2770)

On tap; not really what I was expecting given the style, lacked the light smokish quality. Nice looking dark orange color. Aroma was light, reminiscent of fruit punch or apple juice. Flavor was equally strange, fruit punch and some sweetness. It still did taste good though.

Draft; Color: Amber. Aroma: Faint bubblegum/ Fruit juice. Flavor: Bubble gum/ candy flavor. Lightly sweetened, lovely balance of flavors, not too sweet.

Tap @ Sleepy Dog. Pours a clear, dark rust orange appearance with a cream colored head. Slightly herbal, caramel, a touch nutty aroma. SpFirly sweet, mash-like, goopy caramel flavor with not much hop bitterness. Drinkable but flawed.

Started with a sampler at the brewery. Enjoyed it so much I brought some bombers home. A nice Scotch ale.

FlacoAlto (4220) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - MAR 2, 2012
Sampled on tap at Sleepy Dog; March 2011

The beer arrives with a brilliantly clear, dark, concentrated red color. There are lots of chewy, caramelized grain notes to the nose and there is also a cotton candy like note here. Toasted grain notes and a definite English biscuit like character are also quite noticeable in the nose.

This has a funny, sweet, candy character to it. Toasted grain notes from the malt and an almost soda like quality (perhaps even a citrus like character) are contributed by something else. Lots of sweet tea and crystal malt laden flavors form the core of this beer. A touch of bitterness helps to anchor the sweetness a bit. For some reason I had a fair amount of hope that I would be really enjoying this beer, but this is certainly not as faulty as some of the others.
