3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma with some light hops, a bit of soap, dank. A bit of fruit comes through as it warms. light bitterness, not bad.
Crystal clear golden coloured body with a honey glow, a ridiculously thick five centimetre tall pure white head and literally millions of small bubbles rising from the bottom. Aroma of alcohol, yeast, brett (crazy), must, white grapes, sugar and some light earthy notes - interestingly enough, not much hops at all. Light-bodied; Sharp yeast and earthy flavour with some light sugars from fruit, a bit of musty and cardboard flavours and that hint of brettynomics trying to come through. Aftertaste shows some complexity with a bit of yeast and earthy malt, a little sweetness and a very herbal and grassy finish. Overall, a light but interesting beer with some good flavours and quite the complexity for the style. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Half Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on 26-December-2012 for US$5.99 sampled at home in Washington on 27-July-2013. bottle, from Halftime Beverage. ok aroma, sweet, cardboard, toasted grain. Clean golden orange color, ok head and lace. sweet flavor. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel, crisp bitter finish. Meh, I seem to have gotten the lesser one I see some others got, just nothing to grab my attention.... Reynolds314 (3470) - Connecticut, USA - APR 18, 2013
First dissapointing beer by Sloop. Aroma was a bit of cardboard, grains, cheese, and grass. Taste was more of the same with a huge toasty grainyness. Needs more balance away from sweet toasted malts. Ernesto987 (6050) - Arizona, USA - APR 17, 2013
Light and toasty, stale grains, this might be old, no date on bottle, it’s ok but the worst from these guys bhensonb (15609) - Woodland, California, USA - DEC 2, 2012
Bomber from Half Time. Pours light amber/gold with a creamy white head. Aroma is very lightly roasted malt with some spice. Med + body til the carb froths away. Flavor is bready, maybe nutty, with some grassy/earthy/herbal/spicy. Sort of renders the mouth earthy. Not like mushroom tho. Pretty interesting flavor. Finishes dry and grassy/earthy/herbal/spicy. :) alohabrewer (8) - New York, USA - AUG 2, 2012 does not count
Aroma-some spicy and pine notes well balanced with bready malt background
Appearance-deep amber with a good healthy head
Taste-strong English malt backbone is very pleasant. light sweetness, medium bitterness
Palate-medium body, average carbonation, finishes cleanly
Overall-very drinkable brew. italarican (1549) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 16, 2012
Bottle at Paul’s. Thanks to J #’s for introducing us to a new local brewery! Clear gold pour. Aroma is vegetal, most strongly of asparagus. Flavor is thankfully not vegetal. Sharp pine sting. Woops; the asparagus sneaks up again at the finish. Hmm... jtclockwork (17070) - , New Jersey, USA - JUL 15, 2012
Bottle shared by Jay at Paul’s apartment. Pours gold amber with a white head. Nose/taste of apple skin, pine, light toast and malt. Finishes dry apple pit. Some vegetal notes. Lighter side of medium body. j12601 (13027) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JUL 15, 2012
UPDATED: JUL 22, 2012 Bottle that I took to a tasting at Paul’s. Pours golden with a medium sized white head. Asparagus and other vegetal aromas right away, but moves into a touch of hoppy dusty musk and a bit of toast. Medium bodied, sweet caramel and a bit of malt and a touch of cereal. Sweet and malty, a touch of hops, slow malt and toast on the finish.
update based on a second bottle. vegetal aromas are much less apparent and there’s a nice tropical fruit note as well.sweet into the middle. smooth and easy drinking.
