Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, dried fruits, oak, vanilla, cocoa and alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long warm, roasted, vanilla and oak finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Bottle. An almost clear one, dark brown in color and with a small, dense, light beige head on top. There’s quite a lot of vanilla on the nose, with boozy bourbon, dried fruits, cocoa notes and some coffee and dark chocolate. Some bread crusts too. A tad too boozy on the palate, but in a pleasant way, it’s full-bodied and softly carbonated, semi-sweet, with flavors of vanilla, bourbon, dried fruits and cocoa. A nice bitterness too. Lasting boozy, vanilla and chocolatey finish. Pretty lovely this one, although a tad too boozy. Nothing that really annoys though. 140625 Lawger (275) - SWEDEN - JUN 11, 2014
UPDATED: JUN 23, 2014 The aroma is deep and gloomy goodness right from the start. Dark malts, some oak casks and some spiciness. With more time and temperature there’s an almost tart aroma of unripened cherries emerging. Quite full bodied and fairly complex on the palate. Very long finish. This is well made and a significant step up from the regular Imperial Stout which is rather mediocre. alkolas510 (1411) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - APR 30, 2014
Kolsvart med litet ljusbrunt skum. Doftar ekfatslagring, whisky och vanilj! Mycket whisky och lite kaffe och choklad i smaken. Ganska besk och lite alkoholsmak. Lite blaskig för en imperialstout. Riktigt bra öl! mzaar (3463) - Varberg, SWEDEN - APR 23, 2014

Hmm. The head does not have the luxurious look of good RISs. Vineous aroma. Sometimes these barrel aged stouts are too much. Adding something I don’t like too much. Cool_Bond (2674) - KUNG_AV_OL @ Instagram, SWEDEN - FEB 16, 2014
The smell is of oak, tar and strong alcohol. The taste is really good. Coffee, dark chocolate with a good bitterness. Not too dry. Just right. Bitterness in the aftertaste lies down on top of the tongue for a long time. Much like a Cappochino can be said about the aftertaste. I liked this a lot. Ap;Black to dark brown, but in a bright light it’s "ruby red see-through" atleast in the edges. The head is very much like the head of a soda, short lived and very fizzy.
Ar: Sweet, bourbon, some green apples, chocolate, more soft and smooth bourbon. Very nice aroma.
T: At first medium sweetness, some vanilla, sweet chocolate transposing into dark chocolate, coffee which gives a small to medium bitterness. Nicely balanced.
P: Very light body for being an Imperial Stout and I think it’s a bit much carbonation for this type of beer.
Overall: Bit light body, too much CO2, the barrel aging might have given of to much flavour and hiddes some of the original elements of the beer. Still a really nice well balanced beer! Palme (4811) - Bergen, NORWAY - FEB 13, 2014
0.33l bottle. This is a light cloudy deep and dark ruby brown colored one with a small eventually sidesticking and almost islandy beige head that’s making lots of fizzing polls noises when holding it against my ear. Almost as much as a heavy fizzing cider actually! I have to say that it smells really good this. The place where I bought it actually thought that it was expired, so they sent back three big cases, but when I’m investigating the label, it actually says that it was made the day they they thought it was expired. That had to be a little bit embarrassing... Anyway, it smells really nice this. Lots of sweet dried caramelized fruits with a strong okay and vanilla infused bourbon barreled aroma. Raisins with some booze, coffee and chocolate. Impressive stuff! In the mouth this feels surprisingly light, definitely not watery but I had expected a bit more than this. The carbonation is also surprisingly a good amount above average. The flavors however impresses just as much as the aroma. Lots of woody vanilla and bourbon going on here. As is cocoa, slightly old, still cold and softly sour coffee. Ends with a nice warming boozy aftertaste and a light roasted, dry tongue. It has all the things it needs to be a lovely blend of a barley wine and a imperial stout except for that near watery and almost fizzing mouthfeel. Still, I kinda have to admit that I enjoyed this a lot! 18.11.2013 tfredvik (1941) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 30, 2014
Clear, dark brown body with a small, off-white head that almost disappears completely before it manages to leave much foam on the glass. The aroma is very strong and sweet, with delicious roasted notes, dark caramel, chocolate, dark dried fruits and vanilla in the back. The flavours are quite gently roasted, I get more chocolate than coffee. Also sweet dried dark fruits and pleasant alcohol that gives a warming finish. The alcohol also dries up the palate somewhat in the aftertaste. The barrel ageing hasn’t taken over the soul of the beer, it has just given it a nice vanilla touch, and maybe some extra boozy notes. The body is almost full, the texture is oily and the carbonation is soft to moderate. A very nice, vinous and gentle imp stout!
