3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A Swedish classic imperial stout with the right amount of heavier malts and a good balance between the ABV and the nice tastes of dark chocolate, slightly deteriorated ground coffee and British hops.
1 finger off-white head.
Deep, dark brown beer.
Aroma is raisins, mint, light coffee, charcuterie, fruity and herbal liqueor, salty liquorice and lots of hops of the citrusy and peppery variety. Not up my alley at all when it comes to this style but very different and weirdly pleasant to sniff.
Taste is dark chocolate, charcuterie, leather, tobacco, light soil, black pepper, light mint, light chili, slight black tea note and citrusy hops at the back.
Semi-watery mouthfeel. Low bitterness. Very low carbonation. Barely any alcohol in the taste at all.
Overall: Such a weird stout. According to the bottle, the recipe has remained unchanged since 1999 but this feels way more experimental than traditional.
Even though I rate this so low, it does have some sort of charm to it and it doesn’t taste bad. It’s just so far away from where I want my Imp. Stouts. DruncanVeasey (8226) - NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - FEB 28, 2017
February 2016. Probably from a Systembolaget in Stockholm. Drinking whiskey and Ribena in a deep bubble bath aroma. Some juicy zwetschgen and blueberry once the mad whipped beige head collapses. Flavour more smokey wee dram tipped in Ribena and blueberry juice. impressive oily smoked wood under berries. Bubblegum and humbug. Falls far outside the modern US-biased definition of what constitutes imperial stout. I like it.

Bottle. Black, with dark-reddish tinge against light. Malty (roasty malts, coffee, dark chocolate, burnt sugar, toffee, liquorice, vanilla). Fruity (dark fruits). Sweet and very smooth. Less extreme than other Imperials. Really enjoyed this. An excellent beer! (2008)

Bottle as a gift from Albin ( ratebeer name Wanabe_me ) awsome bro ! Thnx very much ! Pours very dark brown, close to black. Creamy, bit darker , good sized head. Smell is darksugar. palmsugar pops to mind. I had some palmsugar that had coffee aspects, this scent reminds me of that. Doesn’t smell like there’s actual coffee in this, but I do get the aspects... The sweet, earhtyness, factors are really strong, and very attypical for an impy. Taste is sugary, aromatic, again that coffee-like-palm-Sugar aspects. a certain dryness ( roasty ), a certain bitterness. rather sweet, a thick, sugary ( special Sugar ) mouthfeel. it’s definately off the charts compared to any other imperial stout I’ve had. it’s not comparable with anything I’ve had before, accept of one of my homebrews, with loads of Palmsugar in it ( hence the constant remembrance of it ) Accept for the fact this is many, many times better in both quality and taste. I really enjoyed this, but have a hard time to view this as an imperial stout, since it’s so different. I’d be very curious to find out how this is brewed, is it indeed palmsugar? This seems like it could have a style on its own. I applaud it ! Thnx very much Albin, I enjoyed this more that I thought i would ! Moebbels (800) - FINLAND - AUG 18, 2016
A pitch black beer with a miniscule light brown head. Nose has intense aromas of roasted coffee beans, dark chokolate, salty caramel and liquorice. Taste is sweet and roasty with a lingering, dry roasted aftertaste. Soft carbonation and full palate. Very nicely made beer with a perfect balance of sweet chokolate and dry roasted flavors.

Fin fylde og smag af lakrids og kaffe af den ristede slags. Den er ikke spritet som man kun tro.
