(Bottle 50 cl) Dark amber colour (but not quite as dark as a winter night, as the label promises), with a small dense head. Lovely aroma, almost perfumy. Typical Slottskällans spiciness - perhaps a wee touch of cardamom. Slightly sweet, but not sticky in any way. Discreet bitter finish. A very wellmade and different Christmas beer. 170302 rauchbier (3949) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - JUN 22, 2004
Bottle, DBF 2004. Amber bronze, thin off white head and moderate condition. Juicy berries dominate the aroma, sweet in the mouth with hints of malt and a fruitiness that seems like blackcurrant skins, developing into a pleasant bittersweet finish.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2008 (Draught) Clear, dark amber color with a medium, tight and lacy head. Quite dry and chalky aroma at first, slightly cardboardy-vegetably, but later also caramely sweet with some scotch ale character. Sweetish, nutty-oaky, moderately hoppy flavor with caramely malt. Medium to full-bodied, smooth but fizzy carbonated palate. Somewhat tasty and spicy ale with scotch ale character. Niiiice ... I like! JorisPPattyn (10111) - BELGIUM - APR 2, 2005
Dark red-brown colour; yellow head reduced to 1/2 cm. Caramel, laurel, grapes, chocolate in the nose. Chocolate, some caramel, bog myrtle, pine, incense flavours, finishing bitterish-hoppy. Bit watery MF and texture. Nice, just a bit thinnish; fine aroma’s. Maria (10211) - Thisted, DENMARK - JAN 4, 2008
Dark golden with a nice head. The aroma has notes of yeast, spice and malt. The flavour has notes of roasted malt, caramel, candy sugar, spice, some fruit and a delicious, slightly bitter finish. Very like a British Christmas ale, not as "Christmassy" as many beers from other countries.

A 50 cl bottle at home in Skövde. A nice amber colored beer with a offwhite head. Malty, roasted aroma with a slight berry note. Classic christmas spices, malty with some dark bread flavour. Grima (2511) - Merzkirchen, RLP, GERMANY - MAY 14, 2013
Bottle from a trade with Cunningham, huge thanx maaaaan!!!
Pours dark copper colored with tiny head. Smells malty-spicy with some toffee and caramel. Starts with some roasted malts and lots of caramel, some chocolate is noticeable. The middle part has lots of caramel malts, toffee, herbs and some roasted malts. Goes into a roasted malty finish with soem aroma hops, herbs and caramel. Very nice one!
