, rated 2011-12-03) Very dark brown with a small, lacy head. Slightly burned, sourish-malty and coffeeish aroma. Sourish-malty flavor with roasted, thin coffee. Almost medium body, quite high CO2. Barrel ageing has brought some sourness along, but this seems too thin to benefit much from it.

Tap (Pikkulintu, Helsinki, Olutopas Pikkujoulu 2011 - sorry Markku, I blame the northeners)Hermod (7879) - Vantaa, FINLAND - DEC 4, 2011
7 Lovely smooth sweet rich roast, almost mocha-like.
5 Black, small tan head - I love that look.
5 Sharp at first, almost acidic, not as smooth as the aroma promised.
3 Frothy carbonation. Very burnt and astringent finish. Later some metal.
9 Started so good. Headed downhill quickly. Dear brewers, stop obsessively barrel aging everything, it doesn’t necessarily improve a beer, and in this case it probably made it significantly worse. Let’s hope that trend dies soon.
Draught @Pikkulintu. Poured black with a creamy brown head. Honey, wood and roastedness in aroma. Flavor is somewhat sour with berries and coffee. Bitter finish. Thin body.
