It pours a dark black and gives a nice thick half inch foamy off-white head leaving some nice foamy lacing in rings. The smell has chocolate and malts up front coming forth roasty, smokey and robust. The taste is sweet with the chocolate and malts. The palate is smooth and creamy, thick and heavy. Overall, wow, what a great American Porter on a cold winter’s night that I would have again. Had a funky smell at first, but probably because I had to drink it from the bottle. However, the taste is fabulous. It is a poor man's Founders Breakfast Oatmeal stout, which is still very good. Nice coffee and chocolate aftertaste.

On tap at The Summer Shack, Alewife. Inviting aromas of roasted malt and rich dark chocolate. Pitch black with a thin tan head. I found the mouthfeel on this superb- super smooth and supple. Creamy without being cloying, rich without being thick, roasted but not burnt. Flavours of dark chocolate and espresso with a hint of plums. One of the nicest porters I've had, this was fantastic a great finish to a short trip to Boston. rjplumer (1110) - Foxboro, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 2, 2015
Mild chocolate coffee aroma. Black body with a tan half inch head. Rich cocoa and coffee taste. Has lively carbonation but still manages to have a smooth silky feel. Excellent for this style. I’ll look forward to having this one again.

I never expected to find this one in Chicago; I guess I’ll chalk it up to the wonders of globalization. Draft. Almost black, medium brown head, delicate lacing. Aroma of lightly spiced coffee taste is spiced coffee grounds. Tasty. SuIIy (1983) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - MAR 7, 2012
Bottle. Pours a dark opaque color with a small tan head. Nose is chocolate, big chocolate, with a dark dry roastiness and malted milk. Palate is creamy up front with a nice firm bitterness and carbonation. Flavors of malted milk, roasted malt notes, dark fruit and licorice. On the Seventh Day of Christmas 2013 the beer gods gave to me . . . one robust porter. Pours a dark brown color with a caramel colored head. Aroma of caramel, cocoa, and hints of vanilla, with a nice roast profile. Sweet roasty caramel taste with a hit of hops and cocoa and vanilla on the backend. Nice mouthfeel. Well balanced. kaser (6314) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 31, 2014
Vanilla and cocoa aroma. Not a fan of this brewery so far. Tootsie roll taste. Black pour from 22oz at Lakehouse
