Deep hazy copper and bronze coloured body with a muddied glow and a very fast-dying thin, soapy off-white head, that only gets to around a centimetre in height and dies immediately. Aroma of honey, coriander seed, yeast, breads, some moderate curacao and full oranges and a dose of light spicey and toast with a big hit of alcohol warmth noticeable in the aroma. Medium-bodied; Assertive honey and coriander seed flavour at first that gives way immediately to the yeast and bready flavours right behind and shows a lot of warmth from the alcohol and a good deal of malt backbone. Aftertaste is more simplistic with some lighter spices and a bit of dry notes at first and immediately back to bread/yeast along with some honey/curacao flavours and ending with a bit of the spice and more alcohol. Overall, a decent, if that Tripel that shows some very light nice characteristics, but nothing as good as it should be for the style, the age or the complexity. Not worth trying really unless you are a huge fan of the style and even then, perhaps best to drink fresh to see if it has more of a character, even if it is pungent and astringent! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 12-July-2015 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington a bit over two years later on 24-October-2017 after some proper aging (and not a good use of my space).

Sampled at ESBLS. Amber. A malty and earthy aroma. Flavor is a little hot. Also malty and perhaps a little wheat. Very smooth and rich. A lot of fermentables here. Good stuff.

22 oz bottle. Clear orange gold color with fast vanishing head in a fizzy carbonation. The aroma has a lot of yeast with mild orange and light booze.

The body has some yeast yet lighter in mouthfeel mostly because the carbonation is fizzy and a touch to high. The flavor is just as it smells, oranges, tangerines and a weak Belgian yeast. Citrus and sweeter. If the carbonation was dialed down it would improve the overall feel of this beer.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 2/22/15

Aroma: The nose is sweet malts, some fruity notes, a bit of stale malt, and light spice
Appearance: Pours a clear amber-orange color with a frothy beige head and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, malty, lightly sweet, and a bit on the duller side
Palate: The body is light-medium, a bit thin, with a soft carbonation, and a dull close
Overall Impression: This wasn’t a favorite for me. It feels both a touch stale and a touch dull. It isn’t terrible or anything, but it feels kind of boring and a little uninspired.

Orange pour with a fizzy head. Little retention or lacing. Smells like applesauce. Apple juice and pear as well. Tastes pretty terrible. Starts ok with some fruity sweetness and even a little crisp clarity. After that it devolves into an absolute mess. Tons of esters and some off flavor that I can’t identify. Is that the band-aid thing, perhaps? Definitely could be. Ere seems to be a good beer underneath that is just destroyed by this. Actually pretty bitter and astringent in the finish as well. Drain pour, sadly for this whole 4 pack.

I’m very surprised at the low ratings this beer is getting. A delicious (and strong) Belgian.

Ruby orange colored body. Head settles to a light firm film on top. Has unmistakable Belgian trappist aroma with an orange peel aroma. Is smooth and warming on the palate.

(Rating #5747)
