Grisette is a Belgian style ale which was originally brewed in the Hainaut province to be the beer of the miners in the area, just as Saison was the beer of the farmers. It was lighter than Saison and frequently contained wheat as well as barley malt (as does the Sly Fox version). The name is derived from the French word for "gray," referring to both the drab factory frocks worn by the young women (the grisettes) who doled out pints as the men exited from the mines, and also the color of the cobblestone rock being mined.

from a can nice foggy pour with a good fading head. lighter yeasty aroma. yes, beldgie yeast is prominent. stronger alky hit with a background of medium astringency. wew, that yeast is so there, almost smacking you in the face. I swear there are some alarmingly volatile fumes reaching my olfactory. finish is all this and a unique kick not had lately. not sure what to think but im not impressed.

Pours a cloudy light yellow color with a 3 finger white head that sticks around a while. Aromas of light banana, heavy clove and spice. Taste is simple - banana, clove, white pepper. Thin mouthfeel but very, very refreshing. Pretty good.

12oz can via 6 pack from Crossroads. Poured a cloudy straw body with a smaller bright white foamy head. Aroma is probably the best part of this beer, Belgian yeast, spice, dry bread crusts, lemon, bubble gum and some banana skins. Body is slightly watery with lots of big bubble carbonation. Flavor of bread crusts, spice, yeast, banana peel.

No canning information.
Appearance: The body is hazy with a pale straw hue. The head is tall and white with great retention and leaving lots of lacing before settling into a foamy thick white coating.
Aroma: The aroma has slightly tart lemon, with a prominent spicy dough presence and hints of floral notes.
Taste: Hints of lightly tart lemon greets the tongue immediately which overlies a spicy and doughy base. The finish has hints of perfume, but the light lemon and mild spicy dough base make up the flavor here.
Palate: Light and crisp, moderate to highly carbonated.
Overall: This is a great saison, especially when its available for $7.99 for a six pack. This is on par with many Belgian saisons Ive had.
