COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Grisette is a Belgian style ale which was originally brewed in the Hainaut province to be the beer of the miners in the area, just as Saison was the beer of the farmers. It was lighter than Saison and frequently contained wheat as well as barley malt (as does the Sly Fox version). The name is derived from the French word for "gray," referring to both the drab factory frocks worn by the young women (the grisettes) who doled out pints as the men exited from the mines, and also the color of the cobblestone rock being mined.

Pours hazy gold with a medium fluffy white head, looks alot like a witte. Aroma is earthy, citrus, yeast and floral. Smells great. Taste is sweet with a medium bitterness. Medium bodied with some stickiness on the finish.

So, so happy they’ve decided to start canning this! This rating from a fresh one, #12234 best by 10/23/13. Nose spicy, peppery and floral, pours hazy banana yellow with a soapy bright white head. Taste sweet and yeasty, light wheat, bready malt with clove, black pepper, very bright pale malt, lightly oily medium body with light bitterness. Quite clean and hides the booze well. Doesn’t have the yeast/spice complexity of others, but what it does have is suuuuuper repeatable, no problem finishing a sixer of these in the summer, or a case at a party with friends.

Hazy straw-yellow body with a large white head and soapy lacing. Lemon zest, light grains, peppery yeast. Light bodied, mellow carbonation, a little thin in the finish and lacking a true crisp bite that would make this even more refreshing. Respectable.

Draft at Blind Tiger a few months back. Pours straw yellow in color with a fluffy white head. Lighter in flavor than more standard saisons I have had. The addition of wheat to the barley gives the beer more of a cereal grains character. There is a light spice adding to the fresh lively mouthfeel making this beer very refreshing.

On tap at Teresa's next door. Pours a nearly clear white-yellow. Thin fizzy head. Clean crisp aroma of lemon and yeast. Thin crisp mouthfeel. Taste is clean, yeasty and citrusy. Very good beer. Probably one of the best by Sly Fox! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft @ Phoenixville location on 15 Oct 2012 bartender gave me a 10 oz. pour. For me this was like a saison/ Wit Bier hybrid. Color was a bright hazy yellow. Not much in the way of head. Nose is phenol Belgian yeast with a good amount of wheat. Pale malts and yeast are the main players here. Light wheat with a bit of spicy peppery character makes me think of a Wit. Fizzy, spritzy carbonation. Totally refreshing and if I lived in Eastern PA area, I would be a regular at the tasting room or Eatery. Well crafted.
