Bottle to snifter. Bomber. Pours a still nearly black pour with a head that starts to come out then dies. Nose is sasparilla and vanilla bomb. Taste is stickybsweet up front, mid palate shows some more spicing and vanilla. A light menthol taste to it. Towards the end it turns lelleryband then warms the chest. While sweet and full in the palate it isn’t sticky on the lips at first, although it gets there after a few sips. That is, if you can still feel your lips. The chestvwarming moves to the ears and begins to tingle. The boost is true with this beast. Gonna rake this a decent rake with it being known that any more than five ounces is too much for any humane.

Wow, really surprised. Poured from a 25 OZ bottle into a snifter. The appearance is pitch black with a small tan head. The aroma is root beer and alcohol. The taste follows the nose. The best hard root beer i have had.

Dark brown color was typical of a strong ale or barleywine, and the head was one to two fingers in thickness. The smell of vanilla was very strong upon poring, and bringing the beer to nose made the smell so intense. Other than vanilla, I could also smell some licorice. The taste was very dominated by vanilla and licorice as well. The flavor was very sweet and root beery, and alcohol was dangerously well hidden. If there was one thing I would have liked better, it was having some more carbonation. The flatness made the beer taste a little too sweet in the end. The body was silky smooth in texture. I usually don’t like heavily flavored beers. I picked it up based on goo reviews, and it was better than most.

Pours a deep brown to black with a light brown head head. Aromas of root beer and licorice. Taste the same but is very sweet. No hop taste at all. A little alcohol warmth in the finish. Not bad but nothing special. Light palate.

Aroma is root beer, malts and a big hint of mouthwash. The flavor is similar to the aroma, the higher alcohol in this compared to the lower abv version makes the mouthwash stronger.

Appearance: clear deep brown with a short, short-lived white head, no lacing. (3/5) Aroma: sugary root beer, alcohol, mint, cream, grainy malt. (6/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, moderate alcohol, mild bitter. (6/10) Palate: medium slick body, moderate carbonation, sweet slick warming finish. (3/5) I deliberately passed on the lower-alcohol versions of this I’ve seen in the past, because I understood this version was "the one". Well, all I can say is, if this is the one, don’t bother trying any of the others. Heck, don’t bother with this one unless you’re a major fan of root beer. And rubbing alcohol. I mean, it’s not actually terrible - there’s even a hint of beer-like grainy malt underneath the cloying sweetness and root ber extract - but up front it’s very much a hot sugary mess. If that’s your thing, have at it. Me, I’m gonna go brush my teeth for about an hour to try and scrub away the sugar. (12/20) 6/10 #ryansbooze ryansbooze.com

Bottle. Smells like listerine mouthwash. Taste is artificial vanilla, mint mouthwash, ice cream, spices, a hint of rum.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2017 Bottle. Deep brown with minimal head. Definitely not as bad as the lighter version. Strong flavors of tour beer and vanilla cover some of the booze. Still way too damn sweet.

22 oz bottle. Cola black in color with strong vanilla aroma and flavor with notes of mollases and caramel. It is very sweet. The higher 10.7% abv version is less like root beer than the 5.9% version.

Bottle at Peg’s Cycle BA Day. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is vanilla, licorice, booze. Medium body, strong licorice, vanilla, very boozy finish, decent.
