3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From the Bier Tempel - Brugge. Nice creamy pour. The aroma is a combination of cheese, yeast and a touch of noble-ish hops. Flavor is muted, with a lead of banana bread, with a slowly drying finish. A shot in the dark trying this - glad I did.

Pours rather unclear blonde. OK white head. Smell is intense , overripe-fruit yeastyness. rather sharp. Taste is sharp bitterness, that dies of instantly, to make room for an aged-like yeastyness. overripe fruit, unfresh malts, doughy ( in a not so good way ) dusty, mild madeirization. And this isn’t even an aged bottle ( to my knowledge ) very, very overcarbonated. mikske79 (1730) - Puerto Plata, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - NOV 24, 2016
De geur is heel opmerkelijk, kruidig. Mooie schuimkraag en mooie blonde kraag. De smaak valt mee maar is de minste van alle smiskes die ik geprobeerd heb. beastiefan2k (4112) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - NOV 10, 2016
330mL capped bottle poured into St. Augustine goblet glass. As is typical for Smisje beers, great deal of sediment that I tried to separate and pour into a beer shot glass. Still at thick glowing amber gold color with a strong and thick foamy head. Aroma is thick Belgian pie crust with light pear syrup. Aroma is very much the house character. Flavor is a looser and lighter Belgian ale - dough with spritzy herbalness. Then there is a shot of bitter herbal hops. No matter how hard this brewer tries the American level of hoppiness never comes off well. I would so much prefer the beer without the hoppy stab but still a lovely Belgian ale otherwise. Of course, I have a bias for this brewery, their yeast speaks to my inner beer soul. JorgeLee (2240) - Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 30, 2016
Bottle at Bier Circus. Poured slightly hazy amber with a thick white head. Very high carbonation. Smells very Belgian, yeasty, pear drop. Dry bitter finish although didn’t get so much of the hop flavour coming through. Decent but slightly disjointed. Jyrsa (963) - - DEC 11, 2015
Bottle BBE 7/2016. Clear golden yellow with a strong white head. Nose has tartness, earthy yeast licorice and alcohol. Malty with hay. OK palate with some strange off aroma.

Lot 83 bottle from Bier Cellar in Portland, ME. Pours a fairly clear tarnished gold with a medium white head that leaves some lacing. Nose is of candi sugar, spices and some fruits. Dry-hopped, you say? Taste is of burnt sugar, peppery alcohol, fruits and feels belgian enough... Awkward and uncontrolled esters, though. Moderately high bitterness and sugar. Eh, not that good really. Where is that dryhop? Slight burning alcohol sensation. Body is light, carbonation high and lightly stingy. Disjointed to say the least, I do get some of the dryhop and it is not nearly enough to make this beer interesting. This recipe is not one for the history books I would say... 77ships (11051) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - SEP 13, 2015
330 ml. bottle sampled. Purchased @ Willems & Zoon. BBF JUL2016. Sparkling lightly hazy golden, creamy small bubbles white head. Nose is mineral, lightly watery, wet paper, lightly metallic,… High carbonation – too much. Taste is odd insecticide, wet paper, mineral, watery, big esters, overly fizzy, tad lingering chemical, floral, wild flowers (not in a good way) finish, pepper, touch washing powder. Meh this one fell short in quite a few way. Not too crazy about the profile & it is far too carbonated, mineral, odd choice of hops etc. gnoff (10986) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 6, 2015

Hazy yellow color, white head. Herbal, light sweet scent. Herbal, grassy taste. Herbal aftertaste. Fizzy mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
Pours an off amber body with a giant head. Nice yeasty aroma. Boring flat taste with a sweet tone.

High turbidity, caramel and brine. Oxidised and too much sediment. high in body and not totally attenuated.
