On tap at the Taps Brewfest...Pours red brown no head...Aroma is bourbon and caramel...Huge bourbon flavor, caramel, slight dark chocolate bitterness...good carbonation..great beer! hopwine (670) - brooklynzzzzz, New York, USA - OCT 5, 2016
2016 Huge barrel influence, molasses, toffee, cocoa. Not as much heat as you might expect on such a huge beer, especially given how little time this spent in a bottle. Huge body, oily mouthfeel. brokensail (16609) - Dublin, California, USA - SEP 10, 2010
A: The pour is a dark amber color, bordering on mahogany with a finger’s worth of slightly off-white head.
S: Wow, the nose on this beer is phenomenal. Tons of vanilla, bourbon, maple syrup, brown sugar, caramel, and toffee provide a wonderful sweetness. Some miscellaneous dark fruit notes and chocolate fill in the background of the aroma.
T: The flavor is similarly impressive. Lots of sweet, rich vanilla, bourbon, and oak accompanied by toffee, caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup. The finish is all the prevents this from a perfect score as there is a bit of alcohol and heat, along with some hints of chocolate.
M: The mouthfeel is smooth, creamy, rich, and full bodied. A light but nearly perfect level of carbonation.
D: I was told this beer was good, but I had to see for myself. This is one of, if not the, best barrel aged barleywines I’ve come across. I might go back again soon to have some more. Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - JUL 24, 2010
Sample at the Taps brew fest. Rating# 1. Dark amber/brown with very little head. Big aroma, toffee, bourbon, just fantastic. Sweet flavor, more toffee and just a slight amount of heat, like liquid candy, outstanding. (1329)

On tap at Tustin Brewing,
Wow, this was really nice: excellent complexity with flavors of oak, vanilla and a touch of sweetness, it was well balanced with no boozyness. Very drinkable, I thought it was extremely well done. JohnnyJ (5569) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 19, 2010
