On draft. Amber pour, with an off white head. Fruity, grain, sweet caramel, and moderate floral/citrus hops. Decent for an amber.

This beer is everything if you like amber malt character and hops. Peach? Hops? Caramel? Smooth? Delicious? Yea all of those things

Alengrin (5087) - BELGIUM - NOV 27, 2016
Californian amber ale from a 50 cl bottle, bought at Beergium. I wonder if the name refers to Scrat, the sabre-toothed squirrel from the Ice Age animated movies - in any case such an animal never existed... Thick and frothy, dense, egg-white head leaving tight patches of lacing and retaining well, sitting atop a clear, deep and warm, coppery orange-amber coloured beer, a beautiful autumn colour so to speak, with vivid fizz rising up from the bottom of the glass, turning hazy and more brownish amber with sediment. Pleasant and elegant bouquet of pink grapefruit flesh, the white underside of orange peel, pine resin, biscuit, pink pepper, sweet red curry, dried apricot, soap, freshly toasted bread, fainter hints of pistachio nuts, mango, minerals, marihuana, old cake, wormwood. Softly fruity onset, clean with hints of dried mango, peach and green banana, sweetish but restrainedly so, with a vague basic sourish touch and a hint of green olive-like umami, softly carbonated, with a smooth, slick, oily mouthfeel. Pleasantly sweet biscuity malts with a touch of toasted nuts in the middle, carrying the fruity aspects to a notably hoppy - American - finish of resinous, spicy, deeply grapefruity hops, leaving behind a long bitterness drying the back of the mouth and the throat and yielding grapefruity and piney aromas retronasally; alcohol remains all but completely hidden, though a vague gin-like warmth is detectable in the tail. Typically grapefruit-hoppy West Coast amber ale, hoppy and deeply amber enough to qualify as a red IPA as far as Im concerned; straightforward but well-made, elegant, technically flawless and highly drinkable. Very enjoyable beer.

500ml bottle. Amber shade with off-white foam. Flavours are piney, citrus pith, berry fruits. Medium or above bitterness. A solid amber ale but nothing out of the ordinary.

Draught at Smog City, Torrance. Cloudy copper beer with a nice offwhite/yellowish head. Hoppy wort aroma, fruity, floral, some hay. Fruity hoppy aroma, wort, grass notes. A bit unclean.

Amber, copper, a lingering hop profile. Pine and caramel and spruce with a nice belly warming factor. I like that this packs a 7% abv punch. Better than I ever remember it!

Yup. It has a surprisingly hoppy nose but with a caramel backbone behind it. In the mouth it has a rather large fruity quality, with a mild orange pith but also some more rounded out apple vibes pairing up with that caramel in a long, autumnal finish. Great tasting but for some reason I not sure I could drink more than one.

Bottle... Pours brilliantly clear and amber with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. The aroma is lightly nutty and yeasty with medicinal hoppiness. Medium-bodied with tingly carbonation. Too hop-forward and bitter for an amber ale. Acrid and metallic bitterness dominates and then lingers in the finish. Bottle courtesy of biggsbowler!

Bottle shared with friends after a trip out to eat. Amazing amber color with a thick head that had great lacing. Aromas of hops and bright fruit and caramel. Similar flavors. Full mouthfeel. Pretty good for the style.
