COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Native to northern Europe, Baltic porters evolved from British porters once exported to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic porters are often brewed as lagers, the tradition we’ve followed. This beer is big, bold & smooth, with malty flavors reminiscent of coffee, dark fruit & raisins. 2009 Bottle from tap & mallet, rochester. Dark pour with a solid tan sheet of suds. Nose of burnt sugar, licorice, & a little chocolate in the somewhat nicely robust nose. Some smokey notes as well. Carbonation is very soft, showing up mainly at the end. Thick too, carrying firm malty sensations, chocolate and smoke, some licorice too, and robust raisin notes and chocolate covered dark fruits. Has held up considerably well over the 3 years...remaining loaded with malty flavors and thick, somewhat chewy body...even still remotely hoppy in the finish to balance it all out. Quite nice.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2017 Simply put, the best American Baltic Porter. The malt profile assaults your senses at first sip with a very light sweetness and a hint of chocolate. Then the flavor opens to a full-bodied crescendo of deep, flavorful raisin/plum taste. Wonderful aftertaste, with just a hint of a boozy finish. Not a beer that you would want to drink 5 bottles, but definitely one where you can savor one.

Aus der Flasche im Hopfenreich getrunken. Das ist keine 100 Punkte wert. Die Polen können es besser.

This was shared with Strykzone on Facebook chat. Dave has already had this one before. Pours black with a dark tan head. Great lacing .Nose is chocolate, dark ripe fruit, raisin. and coffee. Full body. A very creamy and smooth mouthfeel. The flavor is rich roasted malts with chocolate, coffee, dark ripe fruit and raisins. Finishes with some light bitterness. This beer is simply decadent. A real winner.

0.355 l bottle from 'BierPost.com', bottled in 2016. Pitch black with a thin, slightly creamy, stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty and a bit fruity aroma of milk chocolate, nougat, licorice, some vanilla and a touch of dark fruits. Rather sweet, malty, minimally roasty taste of nougat, cream, licorice, vanilla, hazelnut and traces of dark fruits, followed by a medium long, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly earthy and a little warming finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very pleasant and well-made, easily drinkable despite the abv, good!

Ordentligt med smak. Kaffe och en aning fruktighet i eftersmaken g?r detta till en trevlig bekantskap.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours inky black with a thin tan head. Extremely smooth mouth feel. Lovely mildly sweet chocolate, roasty malt, coffee aromas, some raspberry and cherry. Similar flavours. Delightful.

Beautiful notes of coca, roasted and blueberries, black with a good brown head, medium/full body, not too carbonated, again strong notes of cocoa, blueberries with a light and pleasant warming final...simple and cheap but not everyday you can drink a beer like this.
