UPDATED: JUN 6, 2004 Pours dark tan with a small head. Amazing floral scent with the flavor bursting in your mouth. Very hoppy, resulting in an impressive IPA. harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - MAY 8, 2004
I was slightly disappointed with this one, considering what I traded to get it. The pour is a deep coppery color, with a huge rocky head, and some incredible lacing. The aroma is just syrupy and floral. The hop profile is great in the flavor, but that is all there is, absolutely no malt backbone in this one. The mouthfeel is sweet and slightly buttery, creamy but thin. jeffin7 (613) - Silver Spring, Maryland, USA - APR 19, 2004
Pours with a finger of creamy white head. The Aroma is of sweet malt and piney hops. The flavor is of a rounded but very upfront citrus and hop blend, with a very nice soft but balanced malt backbone. Very creamy/velvety palate. This seems like more of an IPA then an IIPA, even though its seems to be misnamed it is probably one of the best IPA's I have ever had. Right up there with bells two hearted in book. tobias (208) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - MAR 23, 2004
UPDATED: MAR 26, 2004 very nice. floral, citrusy, hoppy. i love it. nice malt hop balance up front with a nice bite of bitterness at the end. very little head, with a nice orange hue. desurfer (1302) - Melbourne, Florida, USA - MAR 10, 2004
This is a very good IPA. Hops all over the place! Aroma is very piney and floral, and more citrusy notes come out in the flavor. Finishes dry and sticky. Good!

Pours a hazy copper orange with a relatively small 1cm white head which dissipates at a decent rate. Nose is very hoppy--I can smell this stuff a mile away. Citrus orange aroma in there too. Smells yummy. Well, if you're a hophead, then this is a good brew. Hoppy throughout with a pungent bitterness to finish. A very nice IPA. haddon90 (1634) - Newport Beach, California, USA - FEB 27, 2004
Nice amber/orange color with a frothy white head. Floral aroma, with some citrus and lovely, earthly hops. Good smooth flavor. Hoppy. Creamy mouthfeel. Some caramel as well. A very well done Double IPA!! SpringsLicker (3660) - Tennessee, USA - FEB 13, 2004
This beer is right on. If there isn't balance in an IPA it's just hop juice. Big Al comes into the ring with a big, long lasting head. After checkin' out the beautiful hazy amber color, Al moves on to the citrusy aroma before delivering a perfectly balanced punch of malt and hops. The long finish was the declaring factor in this match. Big Al a Winner. egajdzis (6669) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 12, 2004
Poured hazy gold with a big white head and particles floating around. Left some lace on the glass. Aroma of citrus hops, and grass. Sweet slightly hoppy, malty with a fairly unbalanced alcohol taste. I would not have guessed this to be an IIPA, more like an alcoholic APA. Thanks for sharing BrianO! argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - JAN 12, 2004
Medium beige head atop a very cloudy amber body. Aroma is floral, orange and some grapefruit, not especially bitter (as I expected given the beer's name). Taste is mild floral up top, before adding orange midbody, and finishing with moderate grapefruit-orange hops bite in the swallow. Medium full body. A very nice beer, but with the name and style, I expected more oomph.
