This Belgian golden ale was brewed in collaboration with Chef Evan Mallet and his staff from the Black Trumpet Bistro and features flavor and aroma contributions from eight edible flowers not commonly found in beer: yarrow, lavender, chamomile, rose buds, elder flowers, calendula, nasturtium and dianthus, that were grown specifically for this beer by Chef Mallets staff at Meadows Mirth Farm.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Buy Rite, 12/24/13

Aroma: The nose is hugely floral/potpourri, with some spice, lemon zest, and yeast notes
Appearance: Pours a clear golden-orange color with a small white head and drippy lace spots
Flavor: The taste is floral and spice, mild bitter, some underlying sweetness (citrus and honey)
Palate: The body is light-medium, not watery at all, just light, soft and clean feel, easy finish
Overall Impression: This is an interesting one for sure. They werent kidding with the whole edible flowers thing, those flavors comes through in droves. It is super easy drinking, fresh, refreshing, and clean, but Im not sure how often Id really want to drink a beer this floral. Still, quite interesting, and I really enjoyed drinking it once.
