In Mary Shelleys novel, a modern-day Prometheus combines disparate parts to create something uncontrollable, destructive and misunderstood. Luckily for you (and our team), brewing is much more manageable in our state-of-the-art brewery in Hampton, NH. The India Lager is a new hybrid-style of beer thats begun surfacing throughout the craft brewing nations of the world. Frankenlager is Smuttynoses interpretation of an IPA decoction-mashed and fermented like the classic lagers of Europe. Its crisp and refined, but certainly not meek or mild, Frankenlager was one the first beers brewed in our new home and were excited to present it to the world.

22oz bottle 4/15/16 (Plainfield Discount Liquor-Indiana)-Pours a hazy golden with a decent head. Aroma of floral, hops, hay, and sweetness. Taste of the same with a bit of a bitterness on back end. This light to medium bodied brew is well balanced and was a decent surprise.

Not sure how they got so many different flavors into the bottle. Pours a nice bright sunshine yellow. Aroma is mild. Taste is a bit sweet yet with a lingering bitter end. Has ABV 6 which is a big surprise. The lingering bitter makes one think it is masking a high possibly even double digit ABV. Im not too familiar with lagers and just beginning to explore IPA so I may be able to give a more detailed rating in the future. I think this is a fine pour, Ill drink more of it for sure.

Draught @ Fools gold. Over hopped without having the body to resist it. Still quite drinkable.

From notes (Oct 2015). Refreshing drink thats quite interesting. Its not quite hoppy enough to be an IPA, and the lager qualities are pretty restrained, which leaves a beer thats tasty, dry, clean, moderately-low hoppy, and quite nice.

Slightly hazy golden and copper coloured body with a dense, thick, three centimetre tall barely tan coloured head. Aroma of fresh PNW hops, some caramel and sweetness from honey, a good dose of pale malts and even a hint of citrus, along with the slightest twang of metal. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong metallic note with some lemons, earth, malt, grain and a touch of grass noticeable, all with a light sweet finish and some hops as well. Aftertaste shows a bit of sweetness, some smooth malts,a bit of citrus and a drying, grassy flavour along with a bit of herbs. Overall, a decent beer - a good lager and a nice variance to most beers in the craft world. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Clarendon), Virginia on 22-November-2015 for US$6,99 sampled at home in Washington on 12-January-2016.

Hazy yellow pour. Nice head. Taste is fruity on the front end and hoppy on the finish. I wouldnt say its like a lager at all....no malty sweetness.
