Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

Really great beer I happened to stumble on. Has a great hop taste, I wish I would have found this sooner.

Pours a semi cloudy golden colour, with a decent sized foamy head. Aroma has notes of biscuits, citrus, and resin. Tasting notes include passionfruit, grapefruit, pine, and some biscuit. Slightly dry, bitter finish to this decent IPA.

Rich honeyed aromas layered wth tropical fruit and burnt sugar. Crisp and creamy with a touch of pine on the pallet.

12floz bottle purchased at the per unit equivalent price of $1.50, BBD 08.24.2017, pint glass. Appears pale gold body with a slight haze, and has small layer of head. Tropical fruit aroma with evergreen, translates to what is expected a medium-full bodied beer with hop bitterness. Fruity and metallic (not in a bad way) middle-of-the-road American IPA.

Golden and hazy pour. Smells of resin and forest. Taste is well balanced resin and hop bitterness, a lot of dry malts. Medium bodied, a big classic IPA, very enjoyable.

2017/04/05 - Pours a clear, medium gold colour with a soapy, white head slowly reduces and leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is citrus and tropical fruits, light caramel with lightly spicy and floral hops. Taste is caramel, resin, tropical and citrus fruits with floral and herbal hops. Mouthfeel is medium with moderate carbonation and a dry, lightly sweet, moderately bitter finish. A little more malt forward than I had expected, but good nonetheless. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

It’s a fine beer, as in it’s fine, not like fancy fine. Smells nice and almost flowery, pours golden. The taste is light and thin; slightly hoppy but not bitter. I wouldn’t say it satisfies a hop craving per say, but it’s more flavorful than some lesser beers. Good for your last night in town for the week before you abandon your sweet love for Florida sunshine.

A nicely balanced east coast IPA with a citrus zest nose and spicy hop bite. The light malt backbone stands up to the unusual hop bill, and this one is well thought out. An easy quaff that belies it’s stout 6.9%. I like the fact that this one eshews the resinous mj component of west coast IPAs while still showcasing it’s altogether different take on hops. Excellent.

Pours light gold with a decent white head that leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma is pine and tropical fruit. The taste is quite bitter with a hint of sweetness. There are notes of tropical fruit, pine, grass, grain and resin. It’s a pretty decent IPA with some distinct flavours and plenty of IBUs.

.33l bottle @Mallaskukko. Pours cloudy yellow with medium head. Aroma is hops, malts, leaves, herbs, pine notes, resin and grass. Flavor is mostly same with dry and earthy fresh mouth feel.
