Cask at Swift Hibernian. Pours a deep dark oily brownish black with ruby highlights- foamy diminishing cask-head. Aroma is thick with licorice, anise, some buttery oak, dark toffee, chocolate, jaeger, oily with tar and sweet dark candy sugar. Sweet flavor with licorice chocolate, leather, vanilla-oak, earth, jaeger, mint, and tobacco- somewhat slick oily finish. puzzl (3258) - New York, New York, USA - SEP 29, 2009
Cask at Swift Hibernian. Very heavy, thick, almost evil coffee flavor, very boozy and caramely from the presence of the Jaeger. Huge and intense. A bunch of whiskey is apparent as well. Yikes. PilsnerPeter (3045) - Flushing, New York, USA - SEP 18, 2009
Tap at Swift Hibernian: Deep dark pour (near opaque) with a strong tan head. Aroma is of anise, tarry thick black malts, black licorice- lots of Jägermeister is apparent. Slick body with a dry flavor- there’s lots of anise/absinthe like qualities. Thick texture yet it’s not under attenuated or sweet. It’s dry and spicy with licorice and fennel notes with more malt base coming through toward the back and as it warms giving a roasted barley note. The Jägermeister has given it an odd plasticy booze presence that almost seems like unwanted phenolics. Still pretty interesting.
