Pours a deep amber/orange with a medium off white head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, dark fruits, rye and oak. Flavor was a mix of the same with the bourbon certainly there but not overpowering. Well done bourbon aged beer. scrizzz (2223) - Bothell, Washington, USA - DEC 22, 2010
Thanks riversideak! Ruby amber, thick fizzy off white head. Strong barrel, sweet toasty caramel and charcoal. Big bourbon notes, sweet molasses middle, softens to a rich chewy caramel finish. riversideAK (6260) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - DEC 21, 2010
Citrusy spicy rye nose, some bourbon vanilla, soft alcohol. Really pleasant bourbon actually. Nice nose! Copper pour, well filtered, nice head/lace. Nice bourbon barrel throughout, vanilla, rye, some citrus here and there. Nice bodied, creamy. Balanced. bvc (1242) - Washington, USA - DEC 21, 2010
22oz capped, thanks Alex. Clear amber brown with eggshell white head. Malty, apple, caramel, fig newtons, lighty boozey and some phenols. Bready tart apples and raisins, white grapes, creamy smooth body with some tobacco notes on the end. Well made and enjoyable until it warms when the booze pops out. UPDATED: JAN 22, 2012 The aroma of some sweet malts and bourbon vanilla, smooth. The beer pours amber with a beige head. It tastes like smooth bourbon from the barrels with a smooth bite on the tail end. The body is syrupy light with some alcohol fumes as well, but not overbearing.

Amber pour with creamy white head and lace. Light sour cherry aroma with a hint of malt. Sweet malt, cherry, with a light sour finish. Medium bodied and fizzy. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - DEC 1, 2010
Pours a medium brown with a slightly reddened tint. Off white head. Smell is very nice and quite strong. Rye whiskey is really apparent in the nose, almost completely dominating. A bit balanced out by some sweet caramel. Taste is quite similar although not as well integrated. Body is the one drawback, as it is a bit thin and undercarbonated. One of my favorte Smuttynose beers to date.

Bottle. Pours a bruin body with an off white head, good retention. Bourbon and boozy sweet malty etoh. Spices are very mild here, with bourbon domineering the brew. brokensail (16432) - Dublin, California, USA - NOV 22, 2010
A: The pour is a dark amber color with about a finger’s worth of khaki colored head.
S: Lots of barrel influence is detectable right off the bat. Vanilla, oak, and bourbon really dominate that aromas. I get some rye as well as a subtle fruitiness behind all the barrel.
T: More bourbon and vanilla to the flavor with a mild warmth to the beer. A lot of rye and what seems to be candied orange peels along with caramel and brown sugar.
M: Medium in body with a surprisingly lively carbonation, but I appreciate it.
D: This beer was good, but it’s completely overwhelmed by the barrel/bourbon. I was left to wonder what the original beer really tasted like. lithy (2996) - Capital of Appalachia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 5, 2010
Amber ruby red, off white cover. Aroma is spicy rye, caramel, bourbon, vanilla oak. Taste is more bourbon, vanilla, light spiciness.
