22 oz bottle shared this with liveFREEorRYE on 10/ 23/ 2010. I’m really glad I made the stop at Julio’s in Westboro, MA. Aroma is a woody bourbon barrel smell. A ton of head that just wont go away, with ridiculous lacing, literally just covers the glass. A butter popcorn fragrance. Up front is a bourbon wood taste(possibly oak wood) a raisin flavor in the center. The finish tastes exactly like movie theater butter popcorn. Has a nice creamy mouth feel that is not too thick yet very rich. A truly unique beer that should be sipped and enjoyed SLOWLY. We let this sit about 20 minutes as it warms the bourbon barrel boozy taste comes through and gets stronger. A complex beer that I could rate 10 times and get different flavors every time I drink it. A very good beer to hold and cherish. Put one in your cellar! I’m going to get a few more bottles and let them age. jcwattsrugger (12420) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - OCT 24, 2010
22oz bottle Thanks grownfool @PreJam Gathering-pours a tan head and amber color. Aroma is bourbon/wood, dark fruit. Taste is bourbon/wood, dark fruit, medium malt. JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - OCT 23, 2010
22oz from wavers1 - thanks, Baker! The pour is a deep dank dark orange to amber, with a slightly too still body. Huge bourbon nose, even overpowering. The mouthfeel is a bit slick, enhanced by the sweetness of the malt profile and the booziness. But the barrel has more complexity in the taste than in the nose, yielding a beer that’s kinda wheatwine-ish. Styles (2014) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - OCT 23, 2010
Courtesy of ohlrangers. Murky brown, no head. Nice balance of bourbon, vanilla, light spice in the background, guess it’s the rye. Flavor much the same, with light sour twinge in finish. Sticky mouthfeel. Nice overall. xmarcnolanx (937) - Kirkwood, Missouri, USA - OCT 19, 2010

Taste is slightly spicy, bourbon, butter, vanilla, and caramel.

Nice brew - god mix of rye flavors, mixed with caramel and molasses - in fact it may drift a little towards being too sweet. Some boozy notes as it warms. Enjoyable beer. Sampled at 2010 pre-Brewer’s Jam tasting. j12601 (12000) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - OCT 15, 2010
Bottle at a tasting at Paul’s place. Pours a hazed ruby brown with a thin beige head. Spicy rye and caramel, with a light amount of alcohol present. Bourbon, spicy rye, more bourbon fueled vanilla. Malty, thick and delicious. Sweet and malty finish. Nice stuff. tronraner (2459) - Walland, Tennessee, USA - OCT 15, 2010
2010 pre-Brewer’s Jam tasting. Pours red-orange with beige head. Aroma is very sweet with some hints of char and honey, maybe some sage. Flavor is also very sweet with maple and caramel, little bit of spice, distant vegetal hint. I can detect some spice in the finish and aftertaste. Ok, but too sweet. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - OCT 14, 2010
(22oz bottle, courtesy of Exiled) Pours a clear amber body with a medium beige head. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, citrus, oak, caramel, and rye. Flavor of vanilla, bourbon, rye, pepper, caramel, and citrus. piscator34 (2534) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - OCT 12, 2010
Bottled sample via and shared with oakbluff. Ruby in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of orchard fruit, bourbon barrel, dark caramel, and booze. Heavy on the booze and barrel in the mouth, but with some nice spicy rye and caramel notes coming through in the background. Somewhat of a slick mouthfeel. Seems way boozier and heavier than it actually is. Some good elements here, but a bit too out of balance to really come together.
