Received a 22-oz bottle via trade with Sully. Pours a hazy caramel amber colored brew with a decent beige head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring and some spotty lacing. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, roasted dark malt and even some Irish rye whiskey. Taste quite complex with profiles of rye and bourbon whiskey, toffee, vanilla and even some sweet apple. Finish is semi-sweet, bourbon presence, yet quite smooth in texture and then flavor. Alcohol is well hidden in the special release.

Bomber shared by Daknole – thanks Dak! Pours hazy amber with a thin tan head. The nose is bourbon, vanilla, light wood and sweet malt. The taste is rye, malt, oaky vanilla and dark fruits with a nice, not overly done bourbon finish. Medium semi-creamy mouthfeel. Good stuff.

Thanks to Skyview! Copper color with no head. Light aroma of apple and oak. Strong malt and bourbony flavor. Light oak/vanilla.

Thanks to Exiled for sharing this bottle. The beer pours a reddish-amber color with an off-white head. The aroma is very nice. I get notes of alcohol, maple, oak, rye and vanilla. The maple seems to be the most dominant aroma. The flavor is maple, vanilla, bourbon, rye and oak. The bourbon and maple really come through in the flavor, but the beer is still very easy to drink. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very good.

portableparty (2347) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - AUG 29, 2010
Bottle share thanks Skyview. Pour was caramel in color and was hazy. Aroma boozy dried fruit with roasted malt. Taste bourbon sweetness and caramel. Palate slick and sticky with a dry finish.

DalzAle (2037) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - AUG 28, 2010
Sample thanks to Skyview. Hazy dark brown pour, no carbonation and a funky subtle apple and booze aroma. Flavor is plenty of bourbon, herbs and finished syrupy and boozy. Very good beer, but just not too much complexity to make it really interesting.

Thanks to Skyview. Bourbon aroma. Fresh, almost green vanilla. The flavor is very rich dominated by bourbon. Silky vanilla finish

Dog Days of Summer Gathering, thanks growler. copper,t an. aroma, woot woot, bourbon goodness, loads of caramel, malty, rye and butterscotch/vanilla and oak wood. flavors, caramel malts, barrel is definitely more present here than anticipated in the nose, rye is mild adding just enough thickness to the palate and mild spices. A nice beer, good use of the Buffalo Trace that at times seems to overtake most of the other elements of this beer.
