Cloudy copper with a small off white head. Some cinnamon, clove and a touch of nutmeg. Faint rye notes with light herbal hops. Lingering mouth feel. beerfest5 (1207) - Cloneen, IRELAND - SEP 11, 2010
One of the most interesting beers Ive ever had, smells and tastes like liquid gold butter. Definitely one to share however, as a single bomber might be a little too much for one person. I got a little sick of it after awhile, the last 1/2 pint was a chore. One of those tastes that is so delicious right off the bat and is really good, but then starts to get annoyingly sweet. Very smooth and thick, I dont think the head dissipated at all through the entire process. Really good one to share, and enjoy with a few other people. Courtesy of ohlrangers. Murky brown, no head. Nice balance of bourbon, vanilla, light spice in the background, guess it’s the rye. Flavor much the same, with light sour twinge in finish. Sticky mouthfeel. Nice overall. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - DEC 21, 2010
Citrusy spicy rye nose, some bourbon vanilla, soft alcohol. Really pleasant bourbon actually. Nice nose! Copper pour, well filtered, nice head/lace. Nice bourbon barrel throughout, vanilla, rye, some citrus here and there. Nice bodied, creamy. Balanced. Pinball (12145) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 24, 2011

Bottle shared by James with some heads in early Jan. Poured a hazy amber brown shade with creamy medium sized head and lacing. Aromas of rich bourbon, rye barrel, cocoa, vanilla bean, dark fruit and smooth malts. Taste is much of the same with a layered toffee and oak flavor that lingers for a while. Medium to fuller bodied. A little hot for 8percent but it didn’t matter with all the great flavors coming through. ineedbeer (2152) - Oakland, California, USA - MAY 20, 2013
I believe this is a 2011 bottle.
Aroma is nice and complex with lots of sweet malt character balanced by bourbon barrel notes. Lots of dark caramel with a hint of chocolate and roast. Quite a bit of rye spice present as well along with some toasted bread. Some fruitiness is also present with prunes and raisins. Some burnt sugar is also present. Light bourbon, oak and vanilla.
Pours a burnt amber with some light brown highlights, but on the whole the beer tends towards red more than brown. Very thin light tan head that quickly recedes to the edges. Light lacing.
Flavor is very similar to aroma but with an lot more bourbon character. There is a lot of sweet fruit notes upfront with prune, raisin and fig. There is quite a bit of malt character as well with dark caramel, roast, caramelized sugar and toffee. Light burnt toast notes. Mid to late palate you get a lot of barrel character with a lot of bourbon, oak and vanilla. Light rye spice and some alcohol heat finish out the flavor. Fairly low bitterness, this definitely is on then sweet side.
Mouth feel is medium to medium full bodied with medium low carbonation. Astringency is low to medium low and alcohol warmth is medium low. Its a very sweet beer but it isn’t sticky like you would expect considering the sweetness.
Overall a very nice, complex beer with good fruit and malt character. The bourbon barrels are well integrated in the aroma but a bit strong in the flavor. The beer is on the sweet side, too much so. nimbleprop (8376) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - JUL 12, 2010
22oz bottle pours a transparent, copper amber with a thin, creamy beige head. Smells like cherries, vanilla, wood pulp, butterscotch. Flavor is caramel, milk chocolate, vanilla, wood, malts. Finish is a touch hot and a touch astringent. egajdzis (6574) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 2, 2010
Red brown color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, rye malt, caramel malts, nuts, and alcohol. Taste of nuts, rye, burnt malts, vanilla, and bourbony alcohol in the finish. blutt59 (6564) - Dallas, Texas, USA - AUG 31, 2010
bottle, thanks to exiled, pours golden amber color with a great creamy toffee, vanilla aroma, flavor of rye whiskey, toffee caramel, warm silky smooth finish
